Am I an idiot for breaking up with my boyfriend?

We’ve been together 8 months, but I was abroad for 3. When I got back from my trip he said he was “in a funk” and didn’t feel like having sex. We had sex only once in 7 weeks, including a sexless vacation together. I feel like we are friends.

I wanted to talk about it, see if there was anything we could do in the meantime to try to get us feeling more intimate again. One of my suggestions even included taking sex off the table for a while. He said he didn’t want to talk about it, he would deal with it on his own. But I didn’t want to wait around for him to be happy and want me again. Especially if he’s not going to include me on this journey. So we split up. Because I couldn’t take not having sex AND not being able to talk about it. Was I wrong?
