Stopping the little things from bothering you

Is it possible to live life stress free?

I feel like as hard as I try to keep my stress level to a minimum there is always stress factor being piled back on. I know that most of these issues aren't serious but it just bogs me down.

Also, sometimes the smallest thing will happen and it will bother me for quite awhile after the fact. I don't know how to look past it. I try telling myself I won't even remember this next week and still it just festers in my mind.

Are there any coping methods out there that work?

people who fixate on small stuff generally don't have anything big going on in their life. (lucky you) Try looking around at people who have real challenges to deal with, and yours will be put into perspective.
Relax... I'll need some information first. Just the basic facts - can you show me where it hurts?

Find a hobby. Find something you really want to dedicate yourself. But time and energy (and maybe even money to further force yourself to stay motivated :p)

You just need to re-prioritize a little.

There are plenty of coping methods that can work. Vashti touched on one of the more important ways of stopping pointless worry. Find someone who has problems and help them with their problems.

For your own problems, learn to redirect your attention to the present moment. When there is something bothering you about the future, make plans to deal with that future. If there is nothing you can do to change the future, then work on accepting what comes.

I very rarely have problems sleeping, nor do I dwell on things too much.

I find easy now. I just look at one thing. Can I fix/control/affect what's happened. If not, it's simply not something worth fretting about. Period.

If it's something I can affect, then again, it's simple. Am I willing to change it? I'll either change it or not.

Before i stressed a lot of about studying and exams. My stress may ease a bit if i simply do other things, go for a jog etc.
Sometimes little things bother the most..

Thanks for the suggestions. I've found that some of these are easy to say but harder to do when they are needed. It will take some time but I will keep trying.

And planning on where to go and have that vacation can give you that exciting mode wherein you will be anxious to buy some things needed. imagine yourself in you long awaited vacation can also help you lessen stress.
I don't know why there is a link to daily motions "dealing with difficult people" there, or even more. . .why did I watch the whole thing?

To answer your question, its not possible to live life stress free. There is good stress such as planning a wedding or working hard at something you believe in, and everyday stressors such as a traffic jam and rudeness. Unfortunately some people start to have trouble dealing with even "little things" when they have had too much stress or something major happens in there life. This leads to a sort of conditioned response and is not a healthy way to be. I have to disagree with the OP who seems to think you "just may not have enough going on in your life" or need to compare yourself to others worse off to be worthy of advice. Many health experts agree that stress that is not managed can have very negative effects on many body systems including the heart. My advice is this:

    1. Try to figure out where its coming from and remedy it if possible
    2. Exercise, eats lots of fruits and veggies, organic if possble
    3. Meditate
    4. Listen to music
    5. Consult friends or seek counseling if need be
    6. Prayer has been shown to alleviate stress in many
    7. Take time for yourself
    8. Keep a journal

We are still bombarded with negative things and the overall decline of moral in society along with the current world situation, but these things can give you a measure of peace in your life. Be well.

Once you get some real big problems under your belt the small stuff will float off your back.

    rum or tequila for drinking.
