Can't send PMs?

I tried to send a couple of private messages, but they don't seem to be going, and there is nothing in my sent folder.

Is there a pre-requisite to sending private messages?

I've never sent a private message on this forum so I don't know about restrictions. Did you check the "Save a copy of this message in your Sent Items folder." -checkbox? It isn't checked by default.
