Why would a man move so quickly
and am no spring chicken its been a week since our first date he consisders us a couple
after this date im not desparate or anyhting like that ive known him since October
been single for 11 yrs it seems like he is desparate

Did you mean that you've been single for 11 years or he has? Well, even if he hasn't I agree that desperation is the most likely reason. On the other hand since you've known him since October, he might have a huge crush on you which would speed him up. Third choice might be that he was just dumped and is having an immature race to have a partner before his ex.
