Ladies, why is it that if you help your g/f around the house/chores and tell her she's pretty and you love her then your, needy or clingy?

Why is it that if you don't do those things , you don't care and are lazy?

I think what you're talking about is more of a particular case than a general one. My ex for instance wouldn't let me near the kitchen, he cooked all the time, cleaned, washed etc, complimented me and said that he loved me but he was very far from being clingy. I don't think you can generalize. It depends both on your personality and the way the other person perceives it.

I always found 'clinginess' to be one of the most ambiguous and frustrating terms in relationships. It just varies so drastically with every person you come across and I'm not just talking extent, but your specific actions as well. I think as far as that goes, you need to communicate with your partner and really straighten out what she's comfortable with and to try and respect each other's space/gestures within reason.

Wah? When my boyfriend helps out around the house, I really appreciate it: I don't find the action to be needy/clingy at all.
