AmeriCorps is a division of the PeaceCorps, it focuses however on specifically the United States, so I won't be goin' to Sudan or anything. Basically, 10 months full time community service, they feed and house me, as well as pay for the transportation, and I get 200 dollars living allowance every two weeks. Remember, I'm not "working" it's volunteer service so keep that in mind before your sneer at the pay.

They have me set to go to Charleston, South Carolina. I wanted Sacramento California, but no biggie, I've never been to South Carolina before, it'll be somethin' new. The division I joined up for (NCCC) National Civilian Community Corps which focuses on things like disaster relief, forest fires, assistance for the red cross, as well as habitat for humanity (building houses for poor people basically) as well as stuff like cleaning up parks and the such.

I did a lot of community service in high school (plus I was a boy scout) so this kind of thing is right up my alley. I can also apply for to get 4,000 dollars towards school, though I currently dont' have plans to go to any specific college.
