Surprising boyfriend at uni- good idea?

Hi everyone!

Basically, I recently found out my boyfriend is going to be studying abroad for a while soon. I'm really happy for him that he's got this chance. He is coming home in 6 days time and is only waiting for his results on friday, he has nothing to study for at the minute. I am free tomorrow and able to train it to his university and would really love to surprise him, just for the day. I was thinking of asking him if he had any plans for tomorrow to ensure I wasn't butting in on anything, but if he has no plans, do you think this is a good idea? I know he will be back soon but I just want to spend as much extra quality time I can with him before he goes and thought it would be really nice to surprise him. I was even planning on going early in the morning and messaging his housemate to ask him if he would be able to let me in before my boyfriend is awake to make the surprise even cooler.

Would you be happy to be surprised like this? Might sound weird but I know my time with him is limited right now and I want to make the most of the time we've got.

Well, admittedly I've never surprised him in this way before. The last time I went to see him he said he wished I could have stayed longer and encouraged me to, so I know he likes when I go to see him. I've never just turned up out the blue but that was my idea, I want to completely surprise him!
