New Member registration off for over a month now

Hello, not sure if you noticed but new members can't register for over 40 days now. I tried referring a friend and he says when he fills out all the forms on the register page, it keeps telling him to

"You did not enter the correct format for the Can you spell? field. Please read the field description for the expected format."

I tried it myself. There is no such field and it's not the captcha field with the blurry letters. And when looking at when the last new member has registered, it shows 12. January 2012
