How to ask for a movie date?

When asking somebody out for a movie date, is it better to just say
"I was just wondering, do you wanna go see a movie sometime" or is it better to say specifically what movie you had in mind? Like "Have you seen ________? (Describe movie a bit) Do you wanna go see it this weekend?"

Which approach do you think is better? It's just that I haven't had great luck with either one and I'm wondering what I can do to improve my approach. Thanks for reading this.

Pick a movie first, preferebly one that comes out the day of the "date" or whatever so you know they have not seen it yet. No love stories or horrors either.

Sounds good, but if its a first date a movie may not be good. Instead find something with lots to do, like mini golf or a fair of some sort.

Yeah, I see where you're coming from with the movie not being such a good idea.
But I plan to take her someplace to eat afterwards, so we have plenty of opportunity to talk and stuff. I don't live in an area with a lot going on (no fairs and stuff), so a movie is actually one of the better options for me. What else could we do in conjunction with the movie beside's eat though. It's just that I don't want to do the exact same thing everyone else does. So what could we do after the movie to make it interesting?

anything sort of spontaneous is good like take her to a movie and afterwards ask her to do something, like its an afterthought, then something like a fair or mini golf would be a good idea and if there isn't much to do just walk her to a restraunt or find some stuff in your area that is fun and interesting... theres usually something a little fun to do

I just catch them when they're alone and ask if they're doing anything for the weekend. If they say no, then i just ask them to "a" movie. Then I get their number and I talk about it with them over the phone.

she knows full well that you wanted to make it a date.

She probably doesn't want to hurt your feelings, or there may be another reason.

the fact is she isnt that close to anyone else as she is to me.....we have shared pretty heavy emotional stuff....but the fact is that she is the closest to me and has said so herself .

    but then why the freinds?????

probably doesn't wanna mess up what you have already. If you go out with her, and you were really good friends before, and if you break-up your friendship will kinda be like "blah" as it were. That's why if you intend to date a women, i wouldn't recommend becoming TOO close of a friend to her.
