Girlfriend is * literally* a different person when she is sleepy. HELP:(

Hi guys, I'm workhorse and I, like many others have a serious problem.

I'm Twenty-nine, have been in multiple (about 15) relationships and I feel like each one has been a little
    better than the previous one.

My current girlfriend is PERFECT, GOD she is so wonderful. We have everything in common, we communicate
well, respect each other, have spectacular sex, yadda yadda yadda, I'm absolutley sure some of you
are vomiting right now at how much I love this woman.

We have been together now for eighteen months, and I feel like we still have the magic. It's really amazing
how long we've managed to hold on to the honeymoon phase.

Now, I can see you thinking...Workhorse, if everything is wonderful then WHAT is THE F***king problem?!

I will tell you, WHENEVER she get's sleepy, usually at night and generally 3-4 days a week, her
cognitive ability (ability to complete sentences, focus on things for longer than a couple of seconds, keep hereyes open, complete simple tasks like changing channels on the tv, WALK) Really declines super fast.

She literally appears to be almost blackout drunk, except that I've been with her all night and we don;t keep any alcohol in the house for the EXACT reason, that I can make sure it's not alcohol affecting her.

And then we fight. She will get a troubled look on her face and then come up with some strange thing that I am doing wrong (such as making her feel stupid) And I will attempt to figure out HOW I am making her
feel stupid when I am NOT EVEN IN THE SAME ROOM and NOT TALKING AT ALL.

And we will have a cyclical argument, in which I will provided FACTUAL and LOGICAL reasons why I am not at fault, and she will completely fail to understand them and continue to be angry at me for making her
    "feel stupid"

I will become frustrated beyond measure, and go and shoot zombies on my xbox, and she will usually
    fall asleep.

The next day I will bring up the fight and she will be completely unaware that we even spoke and be so
apologetic (because I have taped these fights) and she can see that she is like a
mentally disabled person fighting with me.

I will then try speaking to her, using logic and factual information when she is awake and we are
able to overcome just about any problem, and communicate really well.

But 3-4 time a week at some point during the evening, it's like she becomes *literally* mentally disabled.
I am so FRUSTRATED. I feel like this may be NARCOLEPSY or some other related sleep disorder, but currently lack the funds to find out just yet.

Does anyone have any experience with something similiar? Thanks so much in advance for any help.

It slightly sounds like how my mother used to act many years ago, and it ended up being pills. But she generally remembered it in the morning.
So if your girlfriend doesn't have a secret pill addiction, its probably some brain issue(narcolepsy, sleep walking, etc). If its pills, I'd leave her, but if its a brain issue, I'm sure it can be treated. Good luck man. other than that issue, you two seem very happy.

Sounds like she has a sleeping disorder, she is literally "asleep on her feet". Shane could also be correct in that if she is taking some medication of some sort at night it might be leading to this event.

Either way, I'd see a doctor and bring the tape. He will send you to some specialist of some sort no doubt.

I thought pills too. Agree it could be sleepwalking too.
