Dating Someone With Similarities As An Ex

My good friend and I were talking and she has recently moved on to another relationship, which I am more than happy for her in this case. However, after a round table discussion, most of my friends are against this new guy for the simple fact that the ex and the current : share the same first name, same race, and oddly enough are from the same state of CA. What are the odds? However, I've met the new guy, and it seems like that is the only thing they have in common because his personality is very different and my good friend seems to have a glow and peace that she didn't have before.

What is your take? Should she discard this guy because of those similarities or should she move on and be happy with this person although he has some basic similarities? I hate to give her bad advice when she asks...

Well, you might be a 'sucker for love' but if you also disagree with the gossiping and judgement, then it's a GOOD thing.
