    This is really important LR.

Those that I know who have been most successful in friendship and life are those who are truly agreeable and respectful. They don't 'try' to be agreeable or put on a facade when in public - they are consistently agreeable (pleasant to be around) by their very nature. When you've spent time with them, you leave feeling uplifted.

And for the record, being agreeable or respecting someone else's opinions doesn't mean you have to agree with everything. It's largely about knowing how to disagree without insulting the other person's opinion.

I Statements are an excellent way to tell them what you want and how you feel without getting them angry:

And to rephrase this without sounding like an opinionated jerk "well, guys and girls tend to like different things"

I think LR would prefer being mean and lonely over making the personality changes required to be in a relationship.

GOD NO!But there's a HUGE barrier between myself and getting a girl because I have GOOD taste and they don't. It's hard to socialize with those who don't think for themselves.

I think I make progress by the day but what does difference does progress make when that means nothing to the world?

It means something to us that you are making progress. Because we do not like to read, "But there's a HUGE barrier between myself and getting a girl because I have GOOD taste and they don't. It's hard to socialize with those who don't think for themselves." When there are girls with taste.

How do you know they don't think for themselves if you never talk to them? LOL.
Second thoughts can generally be amended with judicious action; injudicious actions can seldom be recovered with second thoughts.

Yeah, but they're very usually not on the attractive or dateable scale....I mean, if a girl is good looking, why would she read when her looks are like a credit card with no strings attached? Good looking girls can climb the social ladder rather than develop character

Anyway, some good news is,today I got accepted into a nerds group nearby. meetup.com is FINALLY posting some good groups and events aside from the run of the mill but things I actually LIKE.
