I think you need to quit making snap judgements about people based on their looks. You really shouldn't do it based on their words either - just their actions.

Words are to an extent actions. How they present themselves is a choice and an action. Thus, you pretty much can fairly judge them based on those things because they deliberately construct themselves in a way to be evaluated. That's what every human outside of Jodie Foster's character in "Nell" does.

Words are also the easiest way for someone who's deceitful to fool you. Their actions never can, if you view the scope of them, and not just the details.

You can also be easily fooled by actions: a person can build a good reputation in a community and secretly be a pedo or serial killer.

Maybe you can.
But if for instance my wife said "I love you" but never treated me that way, I'd know better. Conversely, if she never said it, but treated me as if she did, then I know it.
Actually, when my wife says it to me, I often just say "I know." It's a joke between us.
As Wakeup says, love is a verb.

Additionally, you're not talking about the actions of a person you know intimately. You CAN'T live with someone day in and day out and not see through the facade, if they're putting one up.
