So, this is me, single at 19. I never had a girlfriend in my whole life, and I really want to get out there dating because it's really nice to have someone to share your life with, cuddle, kiss and stuff. I feel like I can make a girl very happy once I know her, but I can't get her to like me because I don't know how to start a conversation with a girl, unless when I'm with my friends... It's complicated.

Girls want a guy that is confident, that isn't nervous, and can handle himself ok in social situations. There is no other way around it...you need to work on having these attributes.

I'm that kind of guy that lets confidence come naturally, because, like breathing, it's comes better off when you're not thinking of it, but overall, I'm an insecure guy, with no confidence at all. Any tips on how to improve my confidence?

Girls want alpha males; they're biologically programmed to want dominant males. So find something nobody else could kick your ass in but make sure it isn't faggot-like, like acoustic guitaring, or ultimate frisbee..

19 is a tough age for a guy. Females tend to be interested in guys either their age or within a few years older, and a guy who is just a few years older than you is more likely to have his own place and a car. Meanwhile, the girls who are likely to admire you because of your age are possibly too young for you, from a legal standpoint. So you need to seriously compete for the women your own age, and that probably means behaving in an assertive and confident manner.

If we don't fight for what we want, we'll never get what we want, that's true, the problem is to feel confident and be assertive. You see, I'm not an assertive and/or confident guy, I'm not afraid of trying to do something, I'm afraid I'll end up with nothing. This fear has been haunting since I was 14, time when I began to know more and more about the dating scene, and it kind of hinders me...

I have a strategy for not caring what others think: I just think that everything I'm going through at the moment soon will be past, but sometimes I just don't feel capable of doing something.
