General question time again. It's easy to introduce yourself at social functions, like parties, because you have every excuse to do so. That's what it's for. And you probably already have mutual friends, anyway. No problem. But anywhere else? I'm lost.
Like say you see an attractive stranger working in some coffee shop or bookstore or restaurant, or you just happen to see them hanging around somewhere in public. Even if you somehow manage to think up some witty ice-breaker to say in passing... I just don't get how that could possibly progress to anything more than smalltalk without risk of being annoying or prying. Wouldn't that be kind of awkward, to just go up to someone who's minding their own business and be all, "Hey! What's your name?" And then continue to try and chat them up and flirt with them? Especially if they're working somewhere! How do you know you're not bothering them? I mean it's a cool idea, to imagine meeting somebody somewhere random like that, but I've just never done it.
Someone outgoing, tell me how in the world this works.
