I'm in love with someone and despite being able to exhibit confidence and charisma in conversation, I get cold feet when it comes to actually asking her out. It would be easy to give into the temptation to ask via private message through facebook but feel as if it would diminish my chances of a "yes" response.

yes, that's a good approach. So is, "Hey, do you wanna go out for a drink?" It all depends on if you want to go to a café or a pub/bar
