Goes WAAY back to the idea that women are the property ("chattel") of men. Since women then were merely property and not people, a man could have several wives ("properties"), but, being only property, a woman could have only one husband ("owner"). It's speculated such traditions (AND marriage itself) arose in Middle Eastern and Western cultures as a means for men to keep track of their offspring and control how their wealth was passed on after death. The double-standard you mention, chelsee, is a residual effect of those early traditions.

Its pretty clear what I said. Seems like you have the problem understanding . Emotional traits can only be passed down genetically..and I am sure that there is no gene for hating someones past..Jealousy is a bit different believe it or not. Why doesnt it makes sense?.
