Why do bad things always happen in 3's?

I know it's just a saying, but I swear it's true. In the past 2 months I lost my house, my relationship ended (which kind of turned out to be a good thing, but it still sucked), and my grandma passed away. I'm sorry, I know this was more of a vent than a question, but it feels kind of good to let it all out to strangers on the internet who can't give me 'that look', you know?

Sorry to hear about your last couple of months. To me, bad things just happen. Lots of bad stuff has happened to me all at once; so the theory of three doesn't apply here.

I always apply the bad things in 3's to celebrities dying-- they always die in 3's. I only ever thought about it then.

But maybe bad things need to happen for good things to happen and you to be able to appreciate it when it happens?
