    Pause for London

Just wanted to give a sympathetic nod to all our friends in London. Those of you who do, send up a few prayers for any lost souls.

I am glad you are safe. I have a friend who is there with her family (or it is possible she has already left for Italy). She is a nice English woman and her husband is Muslim with a very Arabic-sounding name. I expect they will be getting some extra scrutiny now.

Really does change your mindset. During a visit to Spain, I was taken a little aback by how often my friends and aquaintances mentioned ETA, as if it was always present in the backs of their minds. Now, of course, we in the States have the dubious privilege of maintaining an extra layer of alertness around the most common things...a trashcan with its lid askew; an unattended briefcase or package; a powdery, white substance on the edge of a chair in a cafe (which turns out to be powered sugar). To the extent all of us eye such everyday things with heightened skepticism, terrorists are winning.

You ought to see my Israeli friends - it seems many are in a perpetual state of PTSD. Of course, Israel is such a tiny country that virtually everyone is connected in some way to a victim of terrorism. I don't know how people find the strength to live like that.

    i'm so sorry.

i feel so ignorant about these things because i don't watch the tv, or read the news, or listen to the radio.

my heart goes out to you.

TRAFFIC ALERT: A train has derailed on the MBTA Green Line and T riders are being bused between Kenmore Square and Park Street Station as a result. Passengers are encouraged to use the Orange Line at Haymarket and North Station to get downtown. Check mbta.com for more information.

so here's the other news from boston, which my boss told me about. her daughter is there somewhere. apparently, they are also sending in the bomb squad.

    :Sigh:

Usually, it takes me a while to sympthaize with people such a tragedy. I don't know why this time, I can really feel it.

Such sadness. I feel so selfish for being worried about petty little things. Imagine those people who are trying to figure out if their loved ones were hurt.

Yeah. "My g/f won't give me blow jobs. What can I do?" is a pretty ****ing lame-assed problem compared to what a body COULD be having to deal with.
