The combination of the picture and the comment to the picture ("for the ladies") makes it seem like you are putting your body on display as if it were a piece of meat for people to drool over. I think this was your intention, right? It's... not attractive.

You are getting in the habit of getting your self-worth from the attention of other people (chicks) instead of from accomplishes made and goals met. Insecurity abounds from this type of shallow self esteem building if that turns into the only way you feel worthy (via the attention of others and how they view you)

Yes, but the difference is, I get my self-worth without purposely seeking it out. You lack self worth gleened from accomplishes made and goals met.. things you've done that make you proud of yourself.

You need to get your confidence from other sources besides the admiration of women in general.

I agree with academic. I have little sisters and cousins...a lot and thats what young people do. They take a lot of pics and to me it's really not a big deal because that is what you all do.

I take selfies all the time, they're called progress pics and are encouraged by numerous physique/athletic coaches. Careful how much you throw the word "vain" around because it may or may not fit the situation, you may have misjudged your share of selfies with that outlook.

Oh, is that what it's all about... A female friend of my took up body building and my news feed got flooded with 'progress' shots and modelling shots. I just figured she was being vain.

Hey OP, one picture should not be the sole cause/source of everyone alledgedly hating on you. If you think these people hate you, there's a lot more background to it than just a picture. People who genuinely like you and respect you will keep liking you and respecting you regardless of such trivial details.
