How big is religious belief in dating?

I'm an atheist and think that religion is silly, however is this a big factor in dating?

Its fine as long as you don't date a very religious person. Date other atheists or people who believe but don't take it too seriously.

I don't think it's so important when you are dating, but it IS when you are planning a family. Someone who believes a non-believer is going to Hell would not be comfortable raising their children that way, and most atheists don't want their kids to become true-believers.
Relax... I'll need some information first. Just the basic facts - can you show me where it hurts?

My wife is a Catholic whereas I'm more agnostic. Now she's hardly devout and I can't remember the last time she went to church, but she is a believer, and being an Irish catholic she's big into the guilty martyr thing (jaysus, is she ever into that)

We're raising our children as Catholic (apparently) and they go to a Catholic school (because first and foremost its a good school)

I like to think, however, that I provide a balance to any potential indoctrination they may come across, and when they're older they can make their own choices.

So it is possible for a religious person and a non-religious person to raise a family.
