    Read philosophy. Knowledge for its own sake is useless. Draw your own conclusions from the ideas you read. Someone else's context won't be yours.

    fwiw, I never took a formal philosophy course (or any arts except music) in my life. But I read widely. That is key.
    Second thoughts can generally be amended with judicious action; injudicious actions can seldom be recovered with second thoughts.
