my girlfriend and i talked about going to new york, now her friend has an extra ticket and wants her to go, should I be jealous?

Not jealous... disappointed yes. However if her friend has the extra ticket and is able to go and it wasn't intential or behind your back I think you should be supportive and encouraging. But don't be afraid to say "I AM disappointed, but I am happy that it looks like you will have the opportunity"... and really be sincerely supportive. Try to make a joint trip of if another time.
