I am confused, should I get back to my ex fianc� or not?

We stayed engaged for more than a year and were deeply in love with each others, I broke up with her more than one year ago after a minor problem between I and her family, the problem escalated quickly into several major problems, I tried to get her back many times but she was ignoring me and finally changed her phone number few months after the breakup. The story has a lot of details but I will keep it short otherwise it will take pages and pages to mention it.

Both parties were guilty, they did something bad and inconvenient, then I over reacted and insulted them and I hurted her at the end

Then I moved on and I got over her after very tough time.

During the latest few days I got some indications from mutual friends that she is interested in getting back to me, moreover I noticed that she unblocked me on Facebook.

Ok, let us say that she wants me back after this long time (fourteen months), i really feel so confused because of the following:

1. I really do not know if I will fall back in love with her or not (same for her).
2. I do not know why she wants to get back to me after this time.
3. Does she still love me or not (may be but i do not think so).
4. I feel that if i met her now that i will talk to a stranger, a year and more passed, she met new people, may be tried to date other guys, may be her character changed widely.
5. Should we need to discover each others again as strangers, or things will go smoother.

I read much about getting back to an ex and psychologists confirms that it rarely works and just cause another hurt, but we cannot say that this theory applies to all cases.

I am really messed up and do not know what to do.
