Why is my boyfriend using a fake online dating profile?

We are in a long distance relationship, met 2 years ago, have dated for 1 year. In this winter break(we are students), I noticed that after every date, he went home and was online on the fake online dating profile, and then didnt use it until after our next date.
However, school started again, and I think we cant meet each other until a next few months. I notice he is using that fake profile every day, like after he gets home from school. That fake profile is totally fake, fake picture, age, location, job, ethnicity, etc.
Why is he doing this?
We dont talk often, because I want to give him time to study. His school is very hard.

When we were together, he was very caring, charming, affectionate.... to me.
