My girlfriend and I was texting last night and she sent a text saying

"You are my best friend, Mark"

I replied
"You are my best friend Amy, and hopefully, future wife"

she then said back

"if all goes accordingly to plan"

to me it seems like she's not sure it will happen, or is she just being cautious?

Hmmm,it's hard to figure out what she is implying without knowing how she is generally. How long have you both been together? Is she usually negative about the future?

I wouldn't have thought either of those things. Instead, I would have imagined that she was being logical. After all, nobody can be 100% sure of the future

That being said, if you can't understand her and can't ask her what she meant, marriage is going to be a disaster. Good communication underpins a good marriage.
