Bf's mother passed away; what to do for mothers day??

My bf and I have been dating for 5months. His mother passed away about 4 years ago and Mother's day is coming up this Sunday. Im not sure what to do. Nothing? Send him a nice text? I was thinking of giving him a small framed picture of him and his mom. Just to show that I care and I am thinking of him. However, is this too personal and inappropriate? What do you guys think?

How about asking him how he feels about Mother's Day now. Take your cue from his answer.

Why do anything? He's not a mother. Just ask him what his mom was like....make it simple. A very nice thought though

Does he talk about his mother much with you? If not I wouldn't bring it up and wait to see if he would like to discuss memories of his mom with you.

What were you going to do if his mother was alive? Buy him a box of chocolate?

Yea... I think even acknowledging it (mother's day) to him would be weird.

I agree with all above. Could ask if he'd like to join your family for whatever you have planned for your mom[ since he is your bf ] and that is about it.
