8 months NC, still hung up on her

i have hooked up with two different girls in the last month. it was fun but i still wonder about my ex.
she was not at my friends party thankfully as i still think im not ready to see her.
thoughts of her are less but i really worry every so often that im not gona get over her.
people on here have pointed out and i realize she wasnt good for me.
Its 8 months NC why am i so hung up

Dear DownNtout,

Going through a break up and especially when we are younger and see the person in class or through our groups of friends, well, it makes for a rough road to haul some times. Not always but usually.
It is difficult to find closure when there are constant reminders.

You say she wasn't good for you but obviously your in the ol' 'remember everything fondly' stage. It is easy to get caught up in 'La la' land, memories of them and the good times shared.
You will get over this person.
If worried that it's getting to be too much, taking too much time you could always try (and this may seem silly but does actually help), write out by hand a list of the Pro's and Con's regarding this person and be honest ( this list is just for you)

Sometimes our minds portray different versions of memories had
so writing it out may trigger some perspective.

and hey, it's good your hurting; it means you have a big heart; so protect it.

It takes time to get over someone you love, and sometimes it takes years. You really have to consciously work on moving on. Every time you start to think about her, change your thoughts. Keep up with the NC and eventually you will move on. Keep yourself busy and surrounded by friends and family. You will fall in love with someone else one day, and rarely think of your ex
