I reside in Edinburgh, Scotland. I'm a member of various websites, and over the past 9 months, I've been relentlessly stalked and harassed by an Xtra customer.

I don't know the identity of this person, but I saw him posting under his own IP address once on Wikipedia when he was harassing me on there in the past. That IP address was 222.155.56.18 and although I retained a record of this, an administrator cleared his abusive edit, likely so that nothing fell back on the site's staff had I reported him. Editing Wikipedia articles to commit vandalism is not all this person has done to me. I'm of the belief that he was forced to use his own IP address on Wikipedia, as most proxy servers do not function on there.

Apart from stalking me on Wikipedia, he has registered countless accounts on dozens of message boards, some of which are about video games. Some are about other subjects such as relationship advice and he has occasionally used pictures of people I know as his profile avatars. One such forum was left without a moderating team. It is still quite active however, and he went there to harass me repeatedly since he was aware of that fact. Over the past several months, he has been banned a lot by its sole runner, but he soon returns and floods the forums with threatening statements, plus links to obscene images, and he also claims he knows how to configure bots.

I'm a part-time actor. He enjoys vandalizing my entries on The Internet Movie Database (IMDb) and the Acting Wiki. My filmography is listed on both sites and he edited one of these pages so constantly, that I had to ask somebody to disable editing for new users. He uploaded fake posters using images in the galleries associated with the films I appear in, and submitted entries for YouTube videos I did not want placed on IMDb. In addition to this, he has subscribed to my YouTube channel and marked himself as hidden, somehow. Recently, I asked people on the Google support forums if hidden subscribers can be detected, but they said this isn't possible with the current version. He rips my videos using copying tools, then uploads them to pirate (torrent) sites as well, when no permission ever took place for this to occur.

As I said, he has ended up finding me on multiple websites and relentlessly harasses me on all of them. He has also stolen my pictures and attempted to impersonate me, which could fool people who aren't aware of who I am. Sometimes, he uses certain aliases to appear like a normal, benevolent user, only to begin harassing me again. It's this persistent abuse that is worrying to me.

He also got a hold of my friend's address from a video we shot in his area and it is on YouTube due to it being part of a series, and so I need the chronological order of the episodes intact. The stalker in question then placed fake sales adverts on Gumtree to direct strangers to my friend's house. Even though I can not list my videos, once they are embedded elsewhere, a link becomes available. He once posted a photo on a forum supposedly of himself, and one of his dog, but I don't know if this is truthfully him. All I know is that he resides in New Zealand and he won't let up abusing me.

Please, can you issue a formal warning to the person who has that IP address I have added above? Thank you.

Well, that makes more than a dozen times now. I don't get why an ISP has an "abuse department" and they never respond to people's complaints. Maybe because I'm not a Spark customer, they think it won't matter what this guy does to me. I'm not able to put anything personal online now with the links visible, like with YouTube videos. It doesn't matter so much about those he already knows about, because he likely has them saved.

I've been meaning to call Spark to talk to someone on the phone. The only downside is that when it's 9 PM in Scotland, it's like 10 or 11 AM in New Zealand. Also, calling anyone abroad isn't cheap. That's what I'll have to do, though. He uses a mobile account with Spark and once, he tried to vandalize stuff on Wikipedia and leaked his IP address. Yet I've reported him several times since last year and I went into a lot of detail, but I think if they know you're overseas, they just skip it entirely. The thing is, New Zealand has the same queen as the UK and there's a parliament there as well. It's called the beehive or something. Maybe they can help.

Even though an asshole of a Wikipedia administrator erased his edit when he saw me bookmarking it ages ago, I kept a record of the IP address. For a while, it looked as if he had stopped bothering me completely. And I assumed someone from his ISP had spoken to him, as it seemed odd that he suddenly wasn't coming to all these forums to pester me and whatnot, but I think he was just laying low to see what would happen. When I did an IP address trace, it came up saying he is in Hastings, or Napier. It's probably only possible to trace an IP address to someone's home via their own ISP.

I fear that many Internet forums really are either dead, or not worth a toss any longer. Allow me to explain.

I've been a member of a lot of forums, including a shitload of which are no longer even around. Most of them are about video games. There was a time when I used to post a lot, because I welcomed what people had to say and keep in mind, that I meant that this was what I got up to before Facebook existed. Now all these forums are populated by clowns and elitist types. Either that, or nobody hardly posts at all these days. You rarely get much in the way of intellectual chit-chat on forums any longer. Even forums to do with high ranking news sites are the same, if not worse. I'm not referring to Love Forum so much, because the people here are fine. I'm aware we had that spam issue for a while. No, it's not this forum, but just about any other forum I've signed up to.

I registered on a forum about depression the other day. In fact, I was there over 3 years ago, with a different name, which I cannot remember. I made one anxiety related thread after I logged in. Just one. Kind of very similar to what I've talked about on here. Somehow, they recognized my topic was practically the same as another one from before and one person said that they 'personally read every post' on the forum, and it turns out all the threads on there are in moderation mode for newcomers, so my topic did not get approved.

Wow. Talk about not having a life, huh? They don't allow links from new members, so you cannot promote stuff or embed videos, but they get all defensive if you try it, like you're up to no good. You're supposed to play Sir or Miss-Post-A-Lot first and engage in banter with the other users before adding anything external. That wouldn't bother me so much if they hadn't went referring to me as a troll from the jump, when I don't know them. People think you're just meant to be friendly with a plethora of strangers in a cyber setting, then they said I was using a Tor Exit Node, and asked me what I had to hide. Well, only every God darn bit of info about me that no-one else needs to know about. Maybe that's what.

Actually, I tried to be nice and say that I have nothing against the forum; I just don't want to post every minute of my waking hours on there. Then one person (obviously a veteran with a high post count, of course) asked why I was there and why I was on so many forums if I didn't like them, when I said that I don't have the time or the invested interest to want to post all day long, but that has nothing to do with liking squat. Then I posted in a thread about, I don't know. How was your day, or some crap? All I did was ask someone about the PS4 Remote Play feature in a 'anything goes' or 'what you did today' topic because I spent some of my day working out why it wasn't connecting on my laptop, yet I'm classed as having been derailing the thread. Seems like they're very clique and get suspicious of new members, which is okay if there's a serious matter going on, but not if you're just new and unsure of how they like to operate. This is actually not the reason I went off liking forums. What made me hate forums is these trolls, as well as fans of something thinking they're right no matter what, and people posting childish polls you'd expect from a third grader and all manner of nothingness on the sites that used to be great back in the day. Come the end of this decade, all the well-known forums will be dead, I'm sure.
