A Little Ditty
...I wrote a long time ago (10 years ago) for a girl I had a thing for. We've long since parted ways, but since I haven't really written anything love-related in ages, here goes:
Well, I had these awful blues,
And I was out of luck. My wheels were spinning in mud;
You could say I was stuck. But then you came around,
And you gave me a shove. Suddenly I was free!
That's when I fell in love (with you).
(abbreviated chorus)
The stars, the stars they shine,
They shine on you and me. The fish, they dance in the moonlight
In the deep blue sea. Well, I was floatin' on the waves,
On the waves of hope. You're my celestial baby,
Don't need no telescope.
(abbreviated chorus)
You're better than anyone could hope for,
Especially a guy like me, Better than winning the lottery,
Better than cable TV. You're better than all the rest;
That's what you are, Celeste -- Look north, south, east or west;
I'll always find you the best.
(full chorus to finish the song)
You're my celestial baby
And I don't mean maybe. You're my celestial baby
'Cause you're one beautiful lady. You're my celestial baby
Oh girl you're driving me crazy. You're my celestial baby
You're my celestial baby.
Her name was Celeste, and I really think I should have come up with something better than cable TV for that part of the song, heh. That tiny bit of the song was supposed to be tongue-in-cheek, I guess. Ah well!
Cheers to everyone! Hope this is good for a chuckle at least!
