paid/ free sites

Anyone here been on any free dating sites?
I've never been on an online dating site before. I've have a friend who recommended a free dating site to me because she had 2 friends find relationships on it. She thinks it'd be a good way to start off.

To anyone who's been on free sites: Although, I know any site can have freaks on there, can free sites be a somewhat decent way to find someone or is it a waste of time? (My gut tells me that if someone was serious on finding something, they'd go on a paid site. At the other end, I'm not rich)

I've tried both paid and free sites, and I found just as many freaks on the paid ones. They actually seemed MORE desperate. I'm dating someone I met on a free one right now, 5 months in and still going solidly.

There are freaks on both kinds, so don't go by that. I met a guy on one of the free ones and we lasted for quite a bit. Go ahead and sign up with one. You don't have anything to lose.
