Anyone else here hate Canadian truckers?

Me, my dad, and my sister have had so much trouble with Canadian truckers in Canada before. I think the third to last time I was in Canada, some trucker, for NO reason whatsoever, got on my tail about 3 feet behind me at like 75 miles per hour and was flicking me and my sister off. The left lane open for passing, we were in the right lane

I've had at least 5 incidents with Canadian trucker drivers doing stupid shit like this (all in southern Ontario btw). I think they dislike the NY plate. Anyways, I'll be going to Michigan 3 weeks from today and driving through Canada again, but this time I'll be ready!

I think you have some race issues.

Yeah, and it's mostly the truckers that are bothersome. And the truckers aren't women. Canadian women are dimes (cough cough, blue and Indi, cough cough)

I think it may be a regional issue. I think people in Massachusetts are extremely aggressive drivers, for example, which is saying a lot considering I live in the land of drive-by shootings. I've seen people get out of their cars screaming and throwing trash at other cars in Mass. that are stopped at red lights. Very common is extreme tailgating, cutting people off, weaving in and out of traffic at high speeds, etc.

I don't know about Ontario drivers, though.

I actually enjoy the drive in Canada on the QEW because traffic usually goes at least 80 miles per hour. However, with these freaking gas prices, I'll probably be going 60 miles per hour this next trip

around here everybody hates arizona drivers. they have no clue what they're doing.

I dislike old people drivers. For them, the speed limit is merely a suggestion of how fast they could go if they felt like stepping on the gas pedal that day. Oh, and the whole 'driving with your signal light on for ten blocks' is also nice too.

Maybe they ride your ass DM because you drive too slow? Everyone in my province (BC) complains about drivers from Alberta because they always drive exactly the speed limit....often in the fast (passing) lane. It makes people crazy in the head.

The speed limit is the minimum allowable driving speed. I think a lot of the frustration comes from people that incorrectly think it's the *maximum* allowable speed.

It is all of North America. The drivers are garbage. They won't move out the ****ing way and they turn at .00000002mph in their pathetic stupid slow and unpractical over grown thundering SUVs. GET THE **** OUT OF MY WAY BITCH!

I stay to the right if I am driving according to the law. Overly-aggressive drivers will run your ass over.

I don't think it's a matter of being overly-aggessive. They won't ticket you for going ten over the limit, so why wouldn't you? I think slow drivers are sometimes just as dangerous....they're not keeping up with the traffic flow, and often panic.

Then there's those old people drivers that are just on another level altogether. Ugh. If they can't see over the steering wheel and they can't do the speed limit, take their licenses away. There's lots of lovely seats on public transit or in cabs.

Old woman two days ago while trying to park on my neighbors drive way thought she would make it and backed up onto the grass ruining his entire lawn lol, she walked in like nothing happened...they still have not even hosed off the dirt on the drive way.

one time my friend and i were driving on I 10 through texas and we were in this crazy snow storm in the middle of the night. the road looked like a tunnel lined with white from the snow. texas gets crazy storms.

anyway while my friend was driving 5 miles per hour to avoid getting off the road, this truck flies by us like the weather were sunny and clear. i was pretty sure for a minute that me and my friend were going to die right there. we swerved but luckily there was room on the side of the road and we were going too fast.

i think he was trying to avoid a road closure.

That's funny you say that, most everyone I've ever known from Texas I've had to explain to them what snow is!

Or they tell me how if they do get like an inch of snow the whole city shuts down, schools are closed, shops are closed... people drive 10 mph everywhere.

I don't drive in the snow, either.

people in the mountains do though boyyyyyyyyy they're shoveling themselves out the door in the winter.

Truth. Boston is so bad there is even a book published about it. Its called 'The Boston Driver's Handbook' and is a spoof of the actual drivers handbook you study from to pass your drivers exam.

Snowstorms are so much fun though vash. I love them. When I got snowed in at my aunts place, one of the neighbors was planning on having a block party, and even though there was more than 6 feet of snow in the street, people managed to condense it in a path down the middle so everyone went to the party despite the entire city being shut down. I was like 12 and they were letting me have the booze, lol

I'll stick to beach or pool parties when all the guests show up in bathing suits. :)

Besides, they were only giving you booze to keep you from freezing to death.

Naw, they were giving me booze so they could beat me at pool and darts!

i've never seen any snow like that in all my life.

but i bet it's nice for when you don't want to go to work! snow days are the best!

last year we got a huge snow storm on valentines day. beautiful.

I get the feeling Canadians who live outside of Toronto aren't very fond of it and have an inferiority complex with it. Just a hunch :)

Oh no, I've lived in the Toronto area, so I speak the truth. Its like LA in the summer. Dirty, smoggy, too many cars, dirty beaches. Winters are just brutal from the cold & snow.

And I bitch about Vancouver too. For summers, you can't beat it. Clean, beautiful mtns, great hiking, right near the ocean. But the rain in the winter just, frankly, sucks. 3-4 months without ever seeing the sun would make anyone depressed. I feel sorry for those who can't afford to get away in the winter.

That's why I'm moving to a sailboat in 10 years. I'll just move w/the nice weather. ;)

Toronto doesn't get much snow being on the north side of both lakes :)

I don't know about Vancouver summers, I've never been there but does it even warm up? I want my summers in the mid 80s at least, otherwise it just doesn't feel like summer

I think DM, if you ever came to Vancouver you would change your mind about Toronto. Most people prefer Vancouver to Toronto because it's prettier and cleaner, and has far more of a personality. It's not an inferiority complex. I've been to Toronto, and I'd never live there. It's bland and boring and dirty.

As for weather, it does rain a lot, very similar to Seattle. It maybe snows twice a year, and it melts the same day. Summer is usually a comfortable heat.....about 25 to 28 degrees. We do get our killer days that go up into the 30's though, and that sucks because it's humid heat. Ugh, you just sweat to death at night.

Well DM, if it helps to know, for our last move we had to choose b/t Boston, San Diego (La Jolla actually), Washington DC, Montreal and Vancouver. And we chose Vancouver.

Toronto wasn't even on our 'to consider' list. If you want to get a sense of the urban sprawl (I wasn't kidding about it being like LA) just look on Google Earth. :P

And, Toronto can get quite a lot of snow in winter. Its not just the weather from Ls Erie & Toronto, there is a huge lake region just north of Toronto that causes a ton of snow to get dumped there.

When you get a chance, visit Vancouver. After the 2010 Olympics it should become a reasonable place to live again.
