Check it out, gang. For the first time, I think this site might actually be worth a bookmark. Especially the 'briefing room' if you want an idea of what he'll be up to:

You mean like the massive amounts of funding he gave to world AIDS initiatives? Yeah, I'm aware of the good things his administration did. You'd have to be totally ignorant to not recognize that.Quote:

I still reserve the right to be happy to see him get in his 'copter and go bye bye.
The entertainment was great, though. :goofy:Quote:

I imagine 40 years down the road some little kid is going to come interview me for a school project and ask where I was on the historic day a black man was first elected president.
In my ****ing house. It was too damn cold out.
Washington cold my ass. A good part of the reason my sister wanted to move to Washington DC in the first place was to get away from the cold
Anyone see the recent episode of the Colbert Report? I think Colbert is really getting out of hand with his criticizing Obama.
Yes, the whole 'change' campaign thing is a little overrated, but I think Colbert is just flustered because Obama is about to take his pissing pot away.
Colbert does political humor. Whomever is in office is the target.
He's also a satirist.
The entire show is satire. It's humor. Colbert is actually an extremely brilliant man intellectually and politically. Obama is as much of a target as Bush was. Every president is.Quote:

I know it's satire. I guess I just don't see the humor in the recent jokes though. Probably because I don't follow politics.Quote:

geez.
that would be horrific.
i'm so happy with obama. listening to him speak is so incredibly different from listening to bush.
with bush i could only listen to him for 2 seconds before i would get totally disgusted.
but when obama speaks i'm just like, fuk yeah obama!
he said there is a lot of opportunity in the so called crisis we are in and i agree with him. he's so great.
what do you guys think?
I am worried about all the money he wants to spend, and I disagree with his recent advocacy of higher education for EVERYONE.
On the other hand, he is pro-nurse, which I like.
All in all, it's too soon to tell.
It's definitely easier to listen to someone who's got substance rather than someone who tries to talk a bunch of crap to support shitty decisions.Quote:

Just to add, out of interest I decided to youtube two speeches to compare (and avoiding any biased crap speeches and such). So two "state of the union" speeches to congress.

Do you feel that if an individual is willing and able to mentally do well in higher education, they should not get that opportunity? What if the child's parent doesn't care about higher education?Quote:

the one thing that pisses me off is bailing out rich people. did you all know that after katrina hit, new orleans power company went under after they asked for a bail out and they were refused? that is irritating.
Of course, however not EVERYONE is able. Or willing.Quote:

Everyone SHOULD do it. That would be nice :D
Everyone should exercise as well but we understand that is not possible for every single one in the everyone statement.
I don't think everyone SHOULD do it, and I certainly don't want taxpayer money going towards everyone who wants to give it a go on a whim. If they have a history that demonstrates academic achievement but simply can't afford college, that's another story.
Had he talked about trade school, I would have been more supportive.
Oh, I see. When he said "higher education", I thought he meant to include any training/education beyond high school. Yeah, not everyone wants college. It depends on their career aspiration. Trade school/vocational school, etc should have been included as his definition of higher education. If everyone went to colleges and universities we would not have the supply for labor work, blue collar work, etc.
Obmamaaaa! **** yeaaaaa we want change we want change we want change yeaaa! obama!! woooo!!!! *obama becomes president*...*jack shit happens*...chirp chirp ribbit...*dust ball*
I'm for it. Get as many people educated as possible. High school grades aren't necessarily a good indicator of college aptitude. Now, if after a semester you've got a 1.0 and you're not showing up to class, well, then cut off the funding.
I don't think there's anything more important than education and I don't think there's anything that pays off more in the long run. The more people we can educate, the better.
I thought everyone had gotten into college when I found out that by the age of 18, people still piss on the seat.
Yeah, cause we all expected everything to change in the first two months, right?!Quote:

It's ridiculous how quickly everyone expected shit to happen. Could we maybe give him more than a few months?
I will find this ****ing thread in 4 years and still say the same shit.Quote:

The problem is that he was being portrayed as some magical savior that was going to save our economy and change everything so quickly. He was doomed from the beginning.Quote:

Good. With what this country produces as candidates don't expect anyone good for a long time. Hopes are low on that .Quote:
