Why do women cheat?

Defining success as passing one's particular set of genes on to proportionally more viable offspring than others, it is advantageous for men to get as many women pregnant as possible. Since women bear the children, obviously it is in their best interest to be as selective as possible, since the time to reproductive maturity in humans is rather long.

If we had reproductive cycles similar to cockroaches, women would be less selective and men wouldn't be thought of as such promiscuous pigs. That's the purely evolutionary point of view.

At any rate, I don't advocate being a dead-beat father in the name of evolutionary success unless you're me. I have to save the world by making more of me. ;)

My point in calling him an idiot was the attempt to put males and females into categories, and saying they all cheat for THAT reason.

It's not true. I cheated. Why? I was insecure.

One of my exes cheated. Why? Because she loved sex.

My best friend always cheats on her boyfriends? Why? Because she likes to get back at them whenever she gets into a fight.

Categorizing people into those two, simplistic categories ruins the entire purpose for actually sitting and looking at each individual situation, and trying to help people grow.

THAT'S why he's an idiot. He's not helping anything...just sticking generalities into each thread he's in without looking at the real situations involved.

For the record I never had a girlfriend and thus never cheated on anybody.

Women cheat because they are looking for something that their present partner is not able to give to them in sufficient amount or quality.
