I guess genetics and opportunity has a lot to do with it.

My 13yo DD has a math/tech brain which she got from her dad (she wants to be a Quantam Physicist when she grows up). She's got artistic ability from me. And her lack of sporting ability comes from me. She's a guitarist because she's been given the opportunity to learn. And she's a bleeding heart lefty partly because of natural compassion and partly because of our influence.
