I don't have any porn downloaded. All of the porn I do watch is on flash videos loaded on the web sites, so I have no reason to download it.
I really try not to use the stuff that often. Every now and then it's nice to kick back to one, but as of recently I've been watching porn every single time I'd masturbate. The reason for that is as of lately it's been oddly hard to keep images of my ex out of my head while doing that shit. It's better if I have something to watch so my mind doesn't wander elsewhere.
Is porn addictive? No, but it is habitual. Humans are animals who respond to rewards and punishments.
Person masturbates using porn, gets a reward for very little personal cost (probably doesn't even really pay for his climax by joining site).
Dating...guaranteed costs: going out, transportation, anxiety, etc. Also, there's the possibility of rejection and not getting any. Also, one has to communicate with the other person and possibly be uncomfortable and possibly find out that neither of you like each other, etc.
So, what is the male human animal going to do? He's going to stay in the comfort of his own home and get off and then do something else...work, play games, watch t.v.
I'm not advocating this, but this is how it likely works in many cases. It is habitual, it is anti-social, it is selfish, etc....gut it is not addictive.
In terms of the benefit of pro-creation and a long term relationship, I think many people don't see the benefits to that...at least not as much as they used to. The romantic era is at an end, so that is less of a draw. The agrarian era is over, so there's no need to have kids for their work value. The traditional era is a smaller portion of society (mainly conservatives) and so only on segment of society is really having the majority of kids for "traditional" reasons. Heck, there was even a report about how the liberals aren't having kids and will eventually disappear (over several generations). Feminism is an issue of debate that I won't enter, but for whatever reason...that pushes men away from women and vice versa.
So, of course there is a greater draw to porn as a quick solution to the physiological need; the sociological benefits aren't there as much as they used to be.
LOL That's cause porn is a form of "competition" which comes (no pun intended) at cost much lower than themselves. The same reason women generally don't like legalized prostitution... if sex is a marketable activity, then what most women offer is priced at what economists would call a "luxury good" (high priced).Quote:

From a purely economic perspective....In today's society, a normal relationship is a rich man's game. The costs or potential costs are very high and the benefits have not improved at all.
Porn and brothels are priced at a level below the benefits offered; which means that from an economic perspective, a rational man would use these things rather than a normal relationship UNLESS the woman in the normal relationship was offering something in the way of greater benefit.
Greater benefit is usually associated with smarter, higher class women. The problem many women haven't faced yet is that sex and relationships are a marketable good. If they want to get customers then they have to improve their offerings OR they have to as a group create a monopoly situation on sex and relationships. The monopoly option isn't possible...men are turning to porn, gay relationships (in many cases, that is a choice...their may be a predilection, but still there is a choice element to it), and to brothels.
By the way, the same need to improve offerings applies to men, but in many cases women will accept scumbags as boyfriends when they should hold out for something better. As long as women date scumbags, then men will not feel the need to improve on a widespread basis.
