Eco, I'm curious as to how you can dismiss those stats the shh! posted so readily while using other stats to try and prove your points regarding the horrible pharmaceutical companies.
Do you only like the stats that favor your argument?

i didn't dismiss them....four countries even with their stats does not constitute in her words: Europeans have completely normalized it.Quote:

The point is that Europe is more accepting of it than America is. And honestly, I think that pepit saying that the Netherlands isn't so accepting of it is incredibly false. I've been there. Sex is huge in that country.Quote:

When pepit mentioned those four countries listed in those stats, you agreed with her... and yet the stats showed that you were wrong. From now on, when you generalize America, only generalize certain states since not all of the states feel the same way just like the different European countries.
What is wrong with Shh! post of statistics? I found it quite interesting.
Eco & PP, unless you a) have data showing those polls are somehow biased (please post) or, b) you have contrasting studies that show something different (please post), you are both spewing crap & embarrassing yourselves.
Eco: so long as the poll sample size was large & random enough, the data IS normal, as far as the statistics go. Like I said, if you know of data that is better, post it. Otherwise, shut up until you have something meaningful to add.
Shh! do us a favour and just amend your post to "Germany, France, Britain and wherever".Quote:

Most ppl who aren't retarded will understand that is a fair sampling of the Western Urp population.
Eco, you are a pedant. Go look it up. :P
Indie I got the impression you were a smart guy, how can making a statement like ‘Europeans have completely normalized it’ not be seen as a massive generalisation. The stats shh! presented only covered a few countries and it shows yes its more acceptable in those countries but not ‘completely’ normalised…how do you not get this. The arrogance here is so typical on this forum
You generalize America all of the damn time!Quote:

Your experiences from living in ONE state. How is that any different from the statistics shh! posted generalizing Europe from four countries?Quote:

You take extremely limited experiences and use them to judge an enormous and wildly diverse country. I'd say that's generalizing.
Of course its a generalization. Her post of data from 4 countries was merely to support the point that she was trying to make, which is that *generally*, Urps seem more tolerant of EMFs than Americans. Are you seriously so obtuse that you believe she is saying that *everyone* in Urp thinks this is normal?
After that, it just became clear you are digressing from the point of the argument, without an obvious counterpoint of your own to make except a highly pedantic one. What do you want Shh to say? That she doesn't think that ALL Urps agree with EMFs? You know the point she is trying to make, you are just muddying the argument with your silly, obvious point.
LOL, okay Shhh, why don't you let us all know that you don't think that every single couple in Urp agrees with affairs? Tell us something we don't know... :P
Eco, I would suggest you try more for "I" and less of "Q(uantity)" in your posts and you won't see this kind of thing happening.
Back to the topic!
hey i'm not afraid to say that i'm wrong unlike some people, i base my opinions on this forum on my own experience....... and i specifically say that it's based on my experience, i always point out that i'm not talking about the entire population...shh! never did say that it was a massive generalisation....it comes down to arrogance and unwilling to discuss rationally...which again i have to say happens a lot on this forum...there is no need to tell me i'm thick....it was a discussion...but unfortunately that is the way some people react on this forum....i fully expected shh! to laugh about it
Meh, sometimes the arguments get het up but noone holds a grudge here that I'm aware of.
Its what makes this forum fun, IMO. Some ppl come here only for the draaahma, lol. But its still nice to learn something along the way, even if its about how NOT to say something. I've been there, ha! :D
I hold grudges.Quote:

Really? I would have thought you wouldn't have any room left now that you have to hold your own penis. ;)
I wish I was a psychic and knew that this break up was coming because then I would have made sure that I ejaculated into her eye.Quote:

What a chump.
We're enjoying this debate. I never realised when I joined but this forum is mainly for those in the States and I am really surprised that cultural attitudes should be so different.
I think its important at this point to "Re-focus". Whilst I respect the opinions of the contributers here we have decided that to go down the open relationship path regardless. I am very surprised that there is nobody on the site who has tried this as an alternative to divorce.
I still think that the stats are the dumbest thing ever and it NEVER shows the reality that really exist!I tell You guys! Move to Europe and live in few countries for couple of years and then we will talk about it! And btw. tolerance for sex and for having few partners on a side is a difference.
I would be hurted! lol ...Polska FTW!Quote:

Even if you did move to Europe, chances are you may not find out just how many people have open relationships. I seriously doubt it's the kind of thing that people are that up front about in everyday life, in Europe or the States for that matter. In a study, the folks are anonymous and therefore more likely to give an honest answer (at least that's the thinking behind it).
If I were in an open relationship would I tell everyone at work? Probably not, because I'd be gossip fodder for the rest of my career. No offense, Sands.
Statistics > One person's life experience.
starbuck why do you keep dredging up stuff the next day when it's over, this originally started with shh! not having a sense of humour...seriously....let it go :)Quote:

shhh has a great sense of humor.
Days, weeks, what are those? There is no time and space here. We exist in a seperate dimension where days, weeks, and months don't apply.Quote:

Seriously, Eco. This isn't a chat room. It's a forum. I'm allowed to post my thoughts whenever I want. There's no cut off.
EDIT: Just because I don't lie around on the couch for three days straight, posting to Love Forum, doesn't mean I'm not entitled to throw my opinion up here the next day ;)
ye i know, i find her very witty sometimes, she's great...my fav of hers is when she said this forum was run by the pharma companies :) but this thread got out of hand because she wasn't so lighthearted last nightQuote:

this thread will get more out of hand if you continue to talk smack about shhh.
whats smack?!
It means "talking shit about someone else," something that you've criticized other LoveForum posters for doing.Quote:

I just find it entertaining that whenever you feel like you've lost an argument, you start crying about people's post counts and their "lack of humor".
Just wave the white flag already, Eco.
Eco, if you don't believe resolved issues should be brought up again, then I don't want to hear any more of your conspiracies regarding the pharma companies. I've seen you point that out in at least five separate threads.
ye lately because 'other' people have brought it up. as far as i'm concerned i said my piece a long time ago, its not me that seems to be hanging on to itQuote:
