It wasn't quite like that, there were many reasons. Family and lifestyle concerns was one, juggling two careers was another. But yes, when thinking about this kind of thing, one needs to decide whether you are part of the problem or the solution. They go to work, come home, eat their dinner, watch some TV, and maybe do some recreational activities.
