No, because I'm not that individual in my ancestry who was black, who was treated badly, and who was forced into slavery. I have Irish ancestry... should I hate the British? Oh wait... I have British ancestry... what a conflict there.... Let's not forget the struggles between the French and German as well.. I have ties to both of those as well...

I cant believe we are comparing who had it worst and who should feel like shit. I hate when blacks pull the race card for every single thing. Sometimes the case is because one is black though. There is still alot of discrimination and hatred towards blacks, but damn I dont want to be a victim the rest of my life I want to make the people who didnt want me in the first place to regret their decision. I dont live off the slavery days thing, basically cuz I wasnt even in my mother's thoughts who wasnt even alive herself. PLaying the victim will not get me anywhere other than in the list of typical black people, so why bother?
unfortunately what Nisha said is true, however it starts hurting more later on in life when a black person starts working in the same position as your white coworkers and they climb up the corporate ladder while blacks are still kept where they started. yes the salary will increase every year, but not as drastically as the white person's. thus blacks buy houses in Inglewood, and whites in Beverly Hills.
The thing that pisses me off about race is that it's the answer to everything. Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton, for example, love to play the race card whenever they can. Remember the Jena 6? A white kid brought a noose to school and they basically beat him to a bloody mess. Sure, it was wrong for him to bring a noose to school, but what pissed me off is that people were saying they shouldn't get in trouble at all. Really? So, if I'm walking down the street and a black person calls me a cracker I should be allowed to beat him to a bloody mess?
I may well have black in me too, but if I don't look black, I get all the advantages of being white, as did my parents and their parents before them. I don't care for people playing the race card either, but you can't deny that there are certain advantages that come with being white.Quote:

Over here people just assume that I'm an aussie until they hear my accent (or lack thereof), there's a lil bit of a gap between the local and very prominent asian culture here, but you don't really see any racism on the streets, it's probably more so in the employment sector, and not terrible there either fortunately.

This should be a non-issue... if you walk through that door and are qualified for the job then you should get the job --- why do they need to include your race here? If you're smart enough and determined enough, then you should have a shot at that grant --- race doesn't matter here... why is it necessary to bring it up? All that should matter is what you're capable of... what kind of person you essentially are... not the stereotypes associated with the multitude of races that exists... To include race in work, school, and marital matters is just retarded... Race does not define the heart and soul of an individual --- the individual does.

It's because of the height! In Central Africa and some of the Northern and West... Africans are an outstanding height! They have long legs and can run really fast. Because of those traits, it makes them perfect for running and jumping sports such as basketball.
Also, in ghetto's, the government didn't waste their time with expanding the recreation for the poorer communities. A basketball court is probably the cheapest form of recreation. So that is what most African Americans did to entertain themselves.

This may be a matter of attitude by the race itself --- if the environment is heading more towards equality of success and failure --- then it clearly isn't because of the environment holding them back.
At some point all of these 'benefits' that favor one race more than another needs to be limited once equality is achieved. That's the point isn't it? To have all the races have an equal opportunity to succeed? Leaving preferential treatment for a few races over another changes nothing.. other than swapping out which races will have it better than another.
I think we are heading in the right direction... but must not lose sight of what we want --- racial equality. Being distracted by all the other stuff risks leaving us forever dependent on a person's race to judge them and not their character... It's the fact that a person is smart enough and determined enough to do their job that should matter in the workplace --- not how much or how little of light their skin absorbs.
