I dont want to derail Neo's thread any further, but several of those responses in that vid are yoshinkan techniques, esp the joint locks. And some they did will make you dead IRL if done the way they showed.
The guy with the gun to his head, for example, would have fared way better if he dropped straight down (in case the gun was fired) and took him down from there w/his body weight.
Yep, krav maga is based mostly on close combat with bits and pieces from other defense arts.Quote:

As with any other defense technique, you have to be aware of what you are doing and have proper training.
I agree. I was going to comment that, to my eye, the 'natural' builders seemed to look more proportioned/balanced than the steroid junkies. As if some muscles just get unnaturally huge in response to the drugs, more than others.Quote:

But it all relies on instinct and a quick migration to a sensitive point. I'm a big fan of the groin, neck... and where a clear shot can be had.. the middle of the face.
But I'm also a bigger fan of parting with a few bucks and bits of plastic to live for another day.
There is a split second for all of this, and you have to prepare for when or if it's worth it.
Better to have keen eyesight and make diversionary and eye contact measures beforehand. It puts off the majority from proceeding, and it's more assured of outcome.
Body language is more potent than anything.
Doc Durian says:
"Have you ever seen a middle aged ex-body builder? Enough said."
yes, I have. All that happens is they lose their muscle mass. The negative consequences you insinuate are dependent on the individual and have nothing to do with bodybuilding.
"Don't you mean that you think that you "look stronger and in better shape than most people"?
no, I mean exactly what I said. I'm stronger and in better shape than most people.
"Yet, the attention you're getting is from a small cross section of women who give attention for men who spend inordinate amounts of time preening like you do. Why was my question "dumb", if I may ask?"
small cross section? Try the vast majority of females ;-) Your question was dumb b/c obviously the attention I receive from girls means they like what they see otherwise I wouldn't be getting as much attention.
"Don't overlook piecework at a 1990 rate of .50 USD per foot. Rain, sleet, or shine... I made my figures and ate no less than a dozen or more peanut butter, sugar, sprinkle, and jam sandwiches and never missed a main meal choked full of protein and any other side dish that was going whether I liked it previously or not. My stomach growled otherwise. Until you have to chip 2 inches of ice off of what you're aiming to peel, you'll never have an accurate idea what 19th century farmwork produces in a 20th century host hungry to pay his university bills."
don't underestimate years of blood and sweat inside a gym and a burning desire to become the best. Whereas you peeled bark off logs with hand tools, I bench 295 lbs and deadlift 405 lbs.
"My point is this. I did so for money. You do so for some unknown esteem issue. My body told me when to stop or go and I listened. Your body is dictated to by other muscle builders advice. I've seen what these other body builders do to themselves through their advancing years, you refuse to consider that this could be harmful and actually damaging to your esteem."
oh please! Confidence was the 3rd thing I listed when I explained why I like bodybuilding. It figures people on a relationship help website would focus on that and project their own issues onto me.
"I just imagine a number of quality prospective women overlooking you, and you them, because of this preoccupation with yourself. In the meantime, I see the worst kind of women cozying up to you and potentially enslaving you to a lifetime of despair."
that's quite an imagination you have there.
Yggdrasil says:
"No offense intended Neo, I just find it a tad sad you have to work on your body to increase your self esteem, while self esteem is more a thing of the mind. Not sure if I am making sense here."
hmm, I can't tell if you're joking. I don't have to work on my body to increase my self-esteem. It's something that just happens as I look and feel in better shape.
Bah. That's less than the weight of an average cow, Neo. I suppose you might be able to bench an average sheep, tho. ;)Quote:

If I am mistaken let me know.
I guess I'm curious about the quality of girls you're attracting. Seems to me a girl who's THAT fascinated by a man's body is likely the type that throws up to make herself 'pretty' and can't look any further than skin-deep. That doesn't sound like quality, but if it's an easy lay you're after, I'm sure they fit the bill.
I just found it interesting Neo, that you assume the majority of women will be attracted to you for your body. I know only two or three women like this (one being my sister, who is dating a personal trainer who is an insecure jerk at the best of times). The first thing I notice on a guy is his smile and the way he dresses. I've dated all body types.
This isn't meant as an insult, btw, I'm just curious about what type of women you're referring to when you talk about them all wanting you because of your body.
Yggdrasil says:

or maybe I like bodybuilding b/c I can quantitatively measure the progress I've made (e.g. size, strength, etc) and look forward to every workout b/c they bring more gains. The attraction from girls is just an added bonus.

I attract all kinds of females ranging in age from 19 yrs old to 40 yrs old. Some of them are the shy, innocent type while others have a wild side to them. I've been with strong, independent girls who don't need a man and successful women who own nice houses and drive expensive cars. So I assure you I have no problem attracting quality girls.

spare me your politically correct speech. People are naturally attracted to members of the opposite sex with nice bodies. And show me where I said the majority of women will be attracted to me solely for my looks.
I think what she was suggesting is that your current body type is statistically more sought after by a certain type of lady, versus the rest, who prefer a natural looking man just as they prefer a natural looking woman.
It's the definition of "nice" or attractive which is coming into play here.

Yeah, you have to be attracted to the other person, by what's considered attractive differs from person to person. I don't think you have to have a great body to be attractive. The guys I've loved the most had the least perfect bodies. They were the best guys all-around.
Doc Durian says:

what's your point? It's like saying "Ferraris are statistically more sought after by a certain type of buyer versus the rest who prefer a car that's more within their price range." Just b/c someone would rather spend their money on a cheaper car doesn't mean they wouldn't like to test drive a Ferrari.
bluesummer says:
"Okay:"
I was referring to the positive attention I receive from girls in that quote. Try again.
"Anyways, I'm not trying to be pc, just real. I know how women think and what they're attracted to better than you do....I AM female, as are most of my friends, and we all talk about what attracts us."
hah, like you know what women like. One thing I have definitely learned is to never listen to girl about what other girls like.
Ok I`m the other one who is not attracted to a body like Yours. I assume guys who work out too much know at best just how to kiss their muscles instead of woman`s lips... And You seem to be like Johny Bravo, for real. Yes, there are girls who like guys like You, but NOT ALL,and for sure NOT MOST of the girls...
If You don`t have `IT`You can work out 24/7 and You still stay just a big piece of muscle, nothing more...
I dated a body builder for a while when I was in my early 20s. I thought his body was beautiful, but only when he wasn't getting ready for a competition, when he would go on a crash diet to lose all traces of body fat. When his weight was low, he was a little scary, to be honest. He was over 6 feet tall and just a giant mass of muscles.
Neo obviously sees the hypocrisy in a lot of these posts just as I do. If I am correct, and I think I am, Neo had an average physique and body and at the same time a very low and humble love life. But after working out for years and getting a ripped body his "luck" with women changed for the better. Of course most people, particularly women, will attribute almost all of that to confidence
It's too bad people have to be hating on you. The guys want that body type but don't want to put forth the work, so they'll find ways to put you down. These same guys will put down the guys who have the social skills and suave to go to nightclubs and pick up chicks, labeling everyone who does so a douchebag when they are simply jealous and wish they could do that
And then the girls will try to claim they are not so shallow, even though it isn't that shallow at all. At least Tiay was one girl who would admit physical attraction and appearance is important because otherwise you can just be good friends
Pettit-Papillon says:
"Ok I`m the other one who is not attracted to a body like Yours. I assume guys who work out too much know at best just how to kiss their muscles instead of woman`s lips..."
nice!
"If You don`t have `IT`You can work out 24/7 and You still stay just a big piece of muscle, nothing more..."
haha, I suppose graduating with a 4.2 GPA, being accepted into the honors program in college, earning scholarships to pay 100% of my tuition and getting into grad school mean nothing since I'm "just a big piece of muscle, nothing more" according to you.
you see in the 1st picture, that crease that goes from the hips down.. my bf's working on the that and when he gets der 'ooooo yeeee'
That's really you?!? I thought you were kidding. That is awesome!
Congratulations on your efforts Neo.
A quick reference to some of the other comments... the way women seem to be attracted follows as thus (and possibly similar in men)... first with the eyes, and then the visual information is processed and emotion attributed to it based partially on instinct and partially on prior experiences and lessons, and then the initial attraction either increases or decreases based on that. As noble as some women would like to be... it is the physical aspects of a man that the mind will greedily take in first. Then you'll decide based on what your eyes have found for you if you really want to take a genuine interest in them or not.
I admit, Neo's physique does catch my interest -- I look. However, the next step in looking him over physically show's a disinterest in his facial features. Then I take this visual information and based on preconceived ideals and assumptions, I decide I really wouldn't be overly attracted to such a guy. For one, he's not as physically appealing as initially thought... then preconceptions hint that I may not be interested in the kind of personality he may have... and then the final bit, reading through his posts shows that my interests in him would never include anything intimate - romantic or sexual.
In response to Doc... I have found that hard labor does help to increase muscle density. I do not know the exact science behind it, but I do realize my strength and endurance exceeds what my smaller physique would seem capable of. On more than one occasion I have caught male friends by surprise when they try to playfully push me around. Albeit, they do overpower me (I'm only 5'2) but they had to exert more effort to do so.
Whoopee! Who cares.Quote:

I guess that goes right along with the theory of women envying male genitalia.
A theory I find laughable... I'm not keen on having ownership of something that is delicate and highly responsive to pain just dangling there for all the world to kick, slap, graze, thump, bump, bang, punch, squeeze, crush... etc. Nor am I the least bit inclined to endure the agony of feeling like your kidneys are being ripped out through your scrotum -- with it and it's contents hurting too. I wouldn't want to try to impress women... perhaps the world's harshest critics... with something that isn't completely in my control - size, shape, duration, or timing. And last... I'd have to do almost all the work during sex... and be criticized if my performance wasn't up to someone else's standards.
Nah.. I'm content with what I have... it's user-friendly and economical. Also, I don't mind lacking muscular endowment. I'm very petite and rarely get asked to lift anything heavy or accomplish feats that exceed what I'm physically capable of.
We could use a guy like you in my hospital to help move the immobile morbidly obese.Quote:

I can bench press 185 lbs and dead lift 342 lbs.
That's just going straight to the bench, not having worked out for a while. That's where I would start off.
Where did you start, Neo? How long did it take to progress to 295 and 405?
neo is like a work of art; nice to look at. good job neo. it's all about the face tho for me. big muscles i find scary tbh so i'm not into the big big muscly guys, i do like a small bit on the arms tho. i like guys with big dark eyebrows mmm lovely.
i hope you have a good personality to match neo :)
people he may not be a superficial dickhead that he looks like, it's unfair to judge the book by it's cover
No one is judging this shallow book by it's cover. He pretty much summed it all up when he responded with cockiness. He doesn't have time to post in the forum anymore, yet the only thing he does after a hiatus is update his forum buddies with pictures of his swollen body. Who gives a shit?
On top of that... he has the nerve to say THIS female right here is jealous of HIS MUSCLES... and does a "na na na boo boo" look how many post counts i have. Psh!
Y'know, my girlfriends has argued with me over and again about how she rarely takes attraction to physical attributes of random other men. I've even tried catching her off guard by pointing guys out and she'll just have this puzzled look on her face like, "what are you trying to prove?".Quote:

I'm similar to your girlfriend Frasbee and Anako has tried to do that to me on several occasions. Truth is... I'm too damn picky to be attracted to randomness. One little itty bitty thing can turn me off and it's usually the thing that people least expect for me to be turned off by.
CocoChanel says:
"Whoopee! Who cares."
haha, you're so pathetic. If you're going to accuse a person of something that's not true and call them a c0ck for no reason, then don't act like an immature b*tch when he or she has a valid rebuttal. It only makes you look more foolish.
"Can someone explain how it is possible for woman to be jealous of a man because he has muscles?"
I swear this forum is full of idiots. Who said anything about you being jealous of me b/c I have muscles? It's quite possible you're jealous that I'm in better shape or have more dedication than you, or you're jealous of the attention my pics receive. Either way, the fact you came into this thread with nothing but derogatory things to say is characteristic of someone who is jealous of another person's achievements.
Aeradalia says:
"I guess that goes right along with the theory of women envying male genitalia."
no. See above. I just provided three examples that have nothing to do with masculinity or male parts.
doppelgaenger says:
"Where did you start, Neo? How long did it take to progress to 295 and 405?"
I started out benching 135 lbs when I was 14 yrs old and didn't reach 295 lbs until I turned 23 yrs old. I didn't start deadlifting until I was in my early 20s. I began at 225 lbs and worked my way up to 455 lbs. After my hernia surgery, my strength went down.
1averagejoe says:
"He's in an honors program with a pretty high GPA."
actually, I've been out of college working as a personal trainer for the past 2 1/2 yrs. I start physician assistant school in August.
She does... she just doesn't realize that she looked at the guys because she found them attractive... then decided later to not be attracted.Quote:

Lots of women feel this need to prove they are in more control of their sexuality than they really are.
I was fairly oblivious to a male's physical beauty (other than facial features) until I was close to 30, I think. I mean, I noticed if they were muscular, but it was definitely observational rather than genuine sexual interest. Late bloomer, I guess.Quote:

My dad's a beefcake. Always pumping iron. He's 53 or so now and can lift well over 400lbs. I like being able to move my arms, however, so I haven't quite followed in his footsteps. Also, I'm lazy.
