i already have a high metabolism and combine that with my workouts, i am able to drink like a fish and stay thin.
i guess i didn't take into considering body mass. if you have a lot of muscle, i guess you could burn off 1000 cals in an hour. i'm light as a feather so i burn off a lot less.Quote:

well then again, unless you are an Olympic body builder or someone around that level, it is possible.

Normally you just estimate, based on some assumptions about your metabolism and your body composition.Quote:

I think personal trainers and that ilk use tables. You can ask Neo or just google for them.
But if you want a more precise number, you can measure heat production or oxygen consumption (breathing). Exercise physiology labs usually use the 2nd method. There is a relationship between calories expended and oxygen consumed. Its not quite that simple, because it depends what fuel source you are using, but that's the general principle.
I use ellipticals, I weigh 205-210, I set the machine to the highest incline and a resistance of 14 (out of 20), then I go to town on it. I usually burn 560'ish in the first half hour and 470'ish in the second half hour. My avg. heartrate is 165-175 normally.Quote:

If you don't weigh much you burn fewer calories, the more you weigh the more you burn, especially when you add in resistance and gradients.
It's quite a leg workout tbh, I can't do cardio & legs in the same day.
Thanks for that explanation Indi!
Listen, I haven't had health insurance in five years.. The closest thing I come to a doctor's opinion is Vashti ;PQuote:

Well I teamed up with my boyfriend and exercised our asses off and ate healthy (aka STARVED) for some odd weeks. He lost five pounds or so, I gained weight.Quote:

I was so upset that we mirrored everything but my metabolic rate had to be a lot slower or something because he used to run track and he played tons of sports etc. Anyway I did what all too many girls do when they're upset- let emotions take over.
I had this "fuk-it-all" attitude and ate fast food twice a week and drank starbucks (so awfully fattening..) and I stopped exercising (the cold helped too) and when I did that I noticed i got jigglier on my sides. Maybe it had always been like and I didnt notice but I got depressed about it.
I just now started to get my will power back. Feeling fat + seeing god knows how many blubbery woman in power cart chair things rolling around stores around the bakery.. Really gives me reason to exercise again. At least when I was running everyday, even if i didnt lose anything off my waist I FELT really good about myself. I cut soda out of my life completely which was a hard one to give up but Im sure it will pay off one day.
One thing I constantly notice that I do is make excuses. Well I didnt notice it, someone pointed it out to me, and it pissed me off at first but I realized how right they are.. anyway point is that losing weight is half in your mind. if that makes sense.. ANYWAY from now on, when I work the day shift Im fu(king jogging to work and pray I don't get raped by some psycho in a van! (this IS tacoma!)
like i told you before, you are still sexy in my eyes.
