Death of the stick shift?

Lets take my car as a "power for power example"..

When my car had a T56 (6 speed manual), I dyno'd anywhere from 620 on a Mustang dyno to 675 on a Dyno-jet..

With the T56, the best '60 I pulled was a 1.61..
Fastest et was 9.98 @ 134

Now my car has a built (Trans-brake, shift-kit, 2800 stall, etc.) C4 (3 speed auto).. My dyno numbers are down, about 600 on a Mustang Dyno, 660 on a dyno-jet..

The best '60 Ive pulled on the Trans-brake is 1.32..
Best et of 9.34 @ 140..

And this is my personal car that I'll gladly post pictures and timeslips of, if you'd like..

A properly built auto will run faster then a manual, all day, every day..

True...but a manual will outrun an auto as soon as it hits a corner.

There's this thing called weight transfer and engine braking.

Are you saying because your car is fast with an auto that it must be faster than any manual in comparison? That makes no sense. AMS runs 8.2 with a stick at the drag strip. What is your point? low 9's is pretty typical for anything with 600whp. Its good you have a car like that, I almost thought you were talking about that piece of shit truck in your pictures on your myspace. haha. Once again you avoid circuit track, the most important kind of racing.

Lets talk about the average cars on the street, 9 second cars are usually trailered. My friends Kenne bell Cobra gave him more problems when he tried to daily drive it than my last girlfriend did. The 300-400 whp cars will benefit more from a manual. We start talking about stupid fast and we get to cars that don't have anything but two ****ing gears...a low and high lol.

I think he owns a mustang. They still run prehistoric suspensions. Wouldn't matter either way.

No matter what car, no matter the power, a properly set-up automatic will out run a manual, every time.. Its been proven time and time again..

POS shit truck? I didn't realize a 2003 F-150 Supercrew was a piece of shit......?

And FYI, I have more then 1 Mustang.. I've done plenty of laps around VIR.. ;)

If your "friends" KB Cobra gave him problems daily driving, then it was either A: a worthless ass tune B: a ****ed up install.. '03-'04 Cobra's are EASILY streetable and daily driven all the way up to 750-800ish HP.. Why you brought that up, I have no idea..

I'm pretty sure my 18 and my 19 year old Mustang's had pretty "top of the line" suspension for its time and now has full tubular on both cars, 1 with full coilovers, 1 with BBK drag launch.. :)

You are wrong. An auto will not win every time. It has been proven time and time over again. Coil overs aren't going to help you beat anything on the course really. The car needs to be designed for it. I brought it up because at a certain hp the car is not for the street, who gives a shit what the tranny is than? His KB was installed fine, it gave him no problems for a short while and than later it all came crashing down hill to much power on stock internals for that car. For the power he was pushing he couldn't even keep up with me at the autobahn in Joliet for the life of him which was strange.

Edit: Looks like I replied before you edited.. Ive never once said anything about cars on a road course until you brought it up..You're a ****ing idiot.. A BONE STOCK '03-'04 Terminator engine (4.6 32 valve) CAN and HAS handled well over 1000HP without even cracking the bottom end open..

And with the IRS, they handle pretty damn good..

So maybe you should try actually knowing what you are talking about, before you start spewing off from your mouth..

ok? I was still typing. I never insulted your intelligence though you do seem to be cocky about the auto, probably because you own one. You don't seem to understand the advantage of MT when tryng to heel and toe and also being in the proper gear at the entrance of a corner and exit. Also gear breaking for the corners. This argument also NEVER in the first place had "proper built" auto. Just plain auto vs manual. That was your problem, your brought in 9 seconds drag cars into a thread about daily driven typical cars. I don't insult YOUR possessions specifically lol, you can check the Obama thread of what I in general think of lame hick pick up trucks for fat white trash Americans. Coil Overs aren't some insane suspension upgrade to counter act for most of the under steer and over steer you will have, I didn't mean you as a bad driver. You just made it sound like your car can handle cause you got a bunch of freaking springs lol. Body roll, weight distribution, and gearing is what is important.

A manual 160hp normal car vs a automatic 160 hp normal average car ...the manual has the advantage.

My car can easily be daily driven if I felt like getting 7MPG..

Again, Ive already stated I never once stated anything about a road course, yet you still think the same car, mod for mod, 1 auto, 1 manual, the auto will win, which is EXACTLY what I stated..

So I am the one insulting people? My friend's Cobra couldn't handle half that power. Sorry. You can't convince me that a mustang handles well when I spent so much time at the track and witnessed Cobras have a hard time on Tight corners in the auto X taking out 160hp civics lol. I'm done with this stupid shit.
