I give up. While I've had some great dogs in the past, I was raised to make the distinction between affection, loyalty, and "love".
Welcome to the modern disfunctional era.
People who have spent time with dog packs will understand what I'm getting at.
Pecking order and boundaries. They need it, we're responsible for upholding it for their sake, if we want to successfully keep them as pets.
Have at it folks.
My father is VERY religious, like very very much and if he says that priests and whole catholic church is stupid for saying that dogs (and other animals) have no feelings , I just have no other choice than to belive him ;)

that's my bare bare. i would leave him with the guy but he'd be upset if i didn't visit him cause he's a momma's boy. the guy even said that he doesn't think he could tear him away from me. he is special.
This is my dog. I'd leave him with the guy, too, but mostly that is because the dog likes to pee on female strangers. :P

Vashti, everything you've posted about your dog makes me think he's a great big asshole trapped in a little dog body.
I have very strong feelings about my dog and that is why I would NEVER share her with anyone. She is, without question, MY dog and she has been for 13 years. If, in the future, my husband and I get more dogs, we will have the awkward conversation about who really owns them. We had that conversation about our cats already.
The OP's boyfriend lost the dog in the split. End of story.
Man oh man, I can't wait till I graduate from college and move out of this crappy apartment. The second I do, I'm getting me a dog. I was thinking about a Canaan, actually. Or a lab or a pointer. It'd give me a good reason to spend 2-3 hours outside every day and those breeds don't require too much grooming.

Doc, if you didn't believe in ghosts and post like you live in Bountiful, BC (look it up), I think you'd be a pretty cool guy to know. I agree with most of your sentiments. Of course, maybe I'll end up just like you in another 10 years. Who knows?

That's my biggest concrn. We've discussed a bazillion to for him to cease communication w her, and he always breaks his promise. I had to spoon feed him again what I expected and he just say, ya, we discussed it,I won't talk to Kristina-- and after we stop talking for a week, he already contacting for "business" but regardless she's communication. He told me if I can't handle it I should just walk away. He's vowed she will always be in this life and I just have to deal with it. Hell no! That bitch has the upper hand and I'm getting shaffted in the deal. I'm not going to be miserible while he galavants around with his ex and dog-- then wants me to have zero contact with my ex's. I don't think so buddy. I'm so frustrated. He's already thrown out the bazillionth line again saying her won't contact her, but I know he's going to go behind my and see her/the dog. I told him he's grasping to hold onto the past, and killing our relationship. Advice?

I have a dog which was acquired when I was with another woman than I am now. She is more than welcome to visit the dog anytime she wants, whats the big deal? My current girlfriend certainly doesnt care. Granted, my Ex is a business partner of mine, and my current girlfriend is extremely understanding, but I still think you are making a big deal out of nothing.
