And I'm going to sleep. But I'm so sure that when I'll be dreaming of my bf, Neo will leave such a stupid annoying message to me that when I wake up and check this thread, the first thing I'll do will be slapping my forehead. Who wants to bet? :)
papi, it takes a lot of work to be the biggest douche in the universe. he's probably out getting blowjobs from random girls. because that one of the benefits of earning the pinnacle of douchedom.
Pettit-Papillon says:
"Muahahahaha You just made me laugh hahahaha
only 1 person in history
hahahaha mmmyeah right Neo"
f*ck me, you girls are so dumb. How many "best of all-time" do you think there are? lol
i think you are the best of all time at being a douche. many have tried, few have made it.

I kind of feel sorry for tiger woods... I mean, how much of a loser must you feel like if your only value was for knocking a little ball into a hole? What a meaningless existence. No wonder he feels the need to divert his attention from himself.
yeah he's pretty good at filling holes.
aaaaajkjaajakakaaahhaja. i make myself laugh.

how many things can you say you're the best in the world at? Oh right, none. Tiger Woods has also been to places and done things you can only dream of, and has enough money to provide for his grandchildren, their grandchildren and so on, for the rest of their lives. I'm sure he feels like a loser <rolls eyes>
Yeah, because becoming the greatest golfer of all time is so easy to do, no hard work anything and you can find them at just about any country club. Psh Not!
Sure we know athletes get paid too much money to do what they do but don't be ridiculous. Becoming a great athlete takes a lot of physical endurance and discipline... something majority of us could not do, including myself.
He sure feels like a loser now, having gone from hero to zero in a matter of weeks just because he couldn't stay faithful. What a stupid mistake to lose so much over something so completely avoidable.
Sure, he is good at hitting a little ball into a hole. The best in the world, I suppose. (yawn)Quote:

I guess I never really understood hero worship of something so silly.

I doubt he feels like a loser. Sorry for cheating? Yes. But not a loser. He's still the richest athlete in the world and the best golfer to ever play the game. The only thing he will lose is a few endorsers - no biggie.

haha, you're a lowly peasant compared to Tiger Woods. You could die tomorrow and nobody save a few people would notice. But if it makes you feel high and mighty to pass judgment on the man's accomplishments, then good for you!
:D
Whatever neo. I'm far from "high and mighty". I am simply stating the truth as I see it.
A lot of people mourned Michael Jackson's passing, too, but i wouldn't want his life, nor his death, either. :D
a fool and his money are soon parted.
Precisely why he has the right to any woman he chooses.Quote:

"whatever" = typical girl response when caught in a verbal jam and can't think of an intelligent way out
sorry, but after comments like these:
"how much of a loser must you feel like if your only value was for knocking a little ball into a hole? What a meaningless existence."
"Sure, he is good at hitting a little ball into a hole. The best in the world, I suppose. (yawn). I guess I never really understood hero worship of something so silly."
... everything you say from this point on is garbage. It also makes you look in denial when you claim you're "far from high and mighty."
"A lot of people mourned Michael Jackson's passing, too, but i wouldn't want his life, nor his death, either."
what does Michael Jackson have to do with Tiger Woods? Must be more silly girl logic. Someone explain b/c I don't speak idiot. Nobody here is saying they want to be Tiger Woods (as far as I'm aware). All I'm saying is that you're in no position to belittle his achievements.
Neo, Vash's point is perfectly valid. You don't understand, or don't want to. Golf is a game designed for obsessive-compulsives. Any serious golfer will readily admit this. The concept is a pretty stupid one.
Tiger Woods is not what I would consider an elite athlete, either. Not any more than I consider professional ballroom dancers, in fact, dancing is more physically demanding than golf and requires just as much precision. Given the following for golf, tho, I do admire his (or more likely his parents') strategic choice of 'sport'. He will still be able to do what he does for decades, even when older and fatter. Think Jack Nicklaus. Other athletes are lucky to get a good decade or so out of their sport and then resort to coaching, etc.
Here, Robin Williams said it best:
[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xDQd49rEF_0"]YouTube- Broadcast Yourself.[/ame]
Speaking of famous golfers, Jack Nicklaus was hitting on me in a Las Vegas elevator when i was in my early 20s. i didn't even know who he was, and do I wrote him off as another dirty old man without giving him even a second glance. It wasn't until after I got off the elevator that another passenger asked if I knew who he was. :DQuote:

on the contrary, you're the one who is missing the point. Whether or not golf is a respectable sport is irrelevant. The fact is Tiger Woods is the best golfer of all-time, made close to $1 billion playing the sport he loves, entertains millions, and is one of the most famous people in the world. What has Vashti done? For her to claim that Tiger Woods must feel like a loser for playing golf or lives a meaningless existence is so absurd, it's laughable.
"Tiger Woods is not what I would consider an elite athlete, either. Not any more than I consider professional ballroom dancers, in fact, dancing is more physically demanding than golf and requires just as much precision."
who gives a shit? I don't consider 'professional eating' a sport either but I tip my hat to any guy who can make millions profiting from it.
Sure. Like I said in the other thread, he's basically an entertainer. For rich businessmen, or wannabes. That was Vash's point about him being like Michael Jackson.
Noone will remember Tiger Woods' accomplishments in golf as progressing humanity in any way. Bill Gates is a billionaire too, but at least when he's gone there will be something to show for it. I don't deny he has a talent for golf, but it is about as meaningful as the man who can pluck a chicken in 1.5 minutes, except noone is paying him millions of dollars to do it.
Neo, you kill me when you make these observations personal.
What have I done? Well, I can't hit a ball into a little hole very well, or at least, I don't THINK I can - i haven't tried because i would rather do any number of other things. I guess I should just kill myself, and put an end to my miserable existence. :D
I like how both of you conveniently ignored the part where I pointed out the absurdity of vashti claiming Tiger Woods must feel like a loser for playing golf or that he lives a meaningless existence. Good to know you concede it was stupid on her part ;)
yeah, i guess if he is as shallow as he appears to be, he probably wouldn't be able to see the absurdity of it all.
i guess I am willing to alter my statement to say that if all i did was spend my days trying to hit a little ball into a hole, *I* would feel like a loser.
I said no such thing about Vash's post.Quote:

Anyway, I wouldn't say its a meaningful pursuit. But that's true of the majority of humanity, so why should he be any different? He's found a niche, so shrug.
Mbe he will use his millions for something more meaningful later in life. Perhaps he'll develop a new golf course in Tanzania and give a few hundred starving people jobs. Who knows? Or mbe he'll end up squandering it like many others before him. I don't think its any of my business.
But that doesn't change my opinion of golf. Or golfer, pro or otherwise.
Tiger Woods may have lost a few million dollars on this deal, but look what he's got in exchange: he's replaced Michael Jordan and O.J. Simpson in the erotic fantasies of women all over the world. After all those stories about his two-day sexathons, hundreds of millions of women are going to be dreaming of him as they wear down their vibrator batteries.
I'll bet I know why Woods is not going to compete in tournaments for a while: the tour organizers told him that they couldn't hire enough security to hold back the hordes of groupies that will crowd the golf courses to throw their panties at him.
O.J Simpson?
Again, don't make his skill more than what it is, tho. He is a slave to rich businessmen and endorsements. There are plenty of people in oil and investments who make much more than Tiger Woods. The ones writing his cheques, in fact. He is their entertainment and a tool to help sell products. He doesn't do anything to actually create wealth, he just exploits it. Again, a unique niche but nothing to really be remembered by.Quote:

Tell me, without looking it up, the name of the most famous Roman Gladiator.
...
Exactly. Noone remembers.
IndiReloaded says:

his skill is what it is. If people are people willing to pay hundreds of millions of dollars for his talent, then he deserves every penny. Those who claim others with more valuable skills deserve higher pay obviously don't understand how supply and demand works.

Tiger Woods is no more a slave to rich businessmen than you are to whomever writes your checks. In fact, I would argue he's less of a slave b/c unlike you, he doesn't have supervisors. He pretty much does whatever he wants and companies pay him to use his image, not the other way around. Plus he earns tens of millions from winning golf tournaments. Again, unlike you, he could retire now if he wants and still make millions just from doing what he loves. The same cannot be said about you.
"Tell me, without looking it up, the name of the most famous Roman Gladiator.

haha, what is using an example from thousands of years ago suppose to prove? People will remember Tiger Woods hundreds of years from now. Anytime a golf prodigy comes along, guess who they will compare him to? Anytime people argue over who is the best golfer of all-time, guess who's name will come up? Anytime people discuss the most paid athletes, guess who will be at the top of the list? Even if someone eventually comes along and surpasses him, Tiger Woods' name will forever be etched in history.
Calling golf a game of just hitting a ball into a tiny hole is downgrading it to baseball being a game about hitting a ball over a fence or soccer being about kicking a ball into a net. Babe Ruth is an American icon in baseball and he was a major player.
There is a great deal of skill involved (the driving range is killer) and if it were so simple, he wouldn't have made millions, if not billions, doing it.
And like I've said before ... there is rarely a celebrity (especially of his magnitude) that has been completely faithful. I don't see why everyone's so into the news about it.
You demonstrate your ignorance, Neo. Clearly you have never been around large finance. Tiger Woods most certainly answers to his endorsers. You are a fool if you think million dollar cheques don't come with conditions. As for me, you will be disappointed but I don't have a supervisor. Not in the sense you think of it. I have a board I report to. Like Tiger Woods, my pay is directly related to my performance but I don't have to answer to anyone for it. If I screw up, I am responsible for fixing it.Quote:

You won't understand this tho b/c the type of career you are set up for has a ceiling and you will never make more money than your employers. But your responsibility is also limited, by your own choice, so its a fair compensation.
No. It won't. Sorry but history disagrees with you. Two thousand years from now noone will care. Where are the mentions of famous athletes, musicians, etc from ancient Greece and Rome? Or China? Gladiators, musicians and performers were just as popular as our modern sports 'heroes'. Plenty of documents exist from those times but there are few mentions of those people. History remembers inventors, writers, composers, leaders and generals. People who make a lasting contribution, not merely a demonstration of a skill.Quote:

haha, you're so silly. Endorsers pay Tiger Woods to use his image. Rich businessmen come to him, not the other way around. He can easily say "no thanks" if he doesn't like the terms of an offer. Therefore, he calls the shots. You act like he's a puppet on strings being controlled by others, but the guy has so many millions (close to a billion) that he probably doesn't give a shit if he loses a few endorsers.

if you work for a hospital or practice, then you most certainly have someone above you who writes your paychecks. You said you teach (hell, I don't believe anything you say anymore). Then you have a supervisor.
"You won't understand this tho b/c the type of career you are set up for has a ceiling and you will never make more money than your employers. But your responsibility is also limited, by your own choice, so its a fair compensation."
typical IndiReloaded response when losing an argument: bring your opponent's personal life into it. This is where you fail hard. I'm not the one downplaying Tiger Woods' achievements.

bwahaha, you cannot compare stone tablets to digital and printing media. Oh brother! Didn't you say you're a teacher? I feel sorry if you're responsible for molding Canada's future doctors. lmao
There is no way in hell I'd feel like a loser for making so much money doing something I love. Who wouldn't want to get paid to play a sport/do something they enjoy?
In reality nobody gives a shit about what job is worth more money. Entertainment is what makes money. Stories like this make money. The people want gossip and rumors and these affairs that Tiger Woods took part in are top story because everybody wants to read about it and it's getting attention, which is what the media craves.
Granted these sports take skill, but ultimately, that IS what they are about!Quote:
