yup today is the fifth... here in hawaii we have boy's day and girl's day. today it's boy's day. maybe it's just a japanese tradition but it's bigger here as opposed to cinco de mayo.

usually for both days, a lot of shops will make japanese dolls. for girls' day, usually mochi is given to the girls. a lot of spring type of mochi is made into the shapes of flowers and what not. the dolls usually are dressed up in their kimonos. for boys' day, the dolls will be dressed up in the samurai type of clothes. as far as mochi, it's not as big of a thing on boys' day.

my friend from czech tells me about a certain day in czech where on one day, the girls will go to houses with boys in them, and whip them in the a$$ with a willow branch.
the following week or something, the guys will do the same thing to the girl.. and give eggs or something, for fertility.. i think it sounds hilarious..
imagine knocking on the door of your beloved and spanking her with a willow branch.. haha

Chinese fortune cookies: You know, the little fortune inside?..well I only found this out recently, but did you all know you're supposed to add "in bed" at the end of the fortune to make it funny?
It's hilarious. It's like "You will recieve great rewards for your efforts" and you add "in bed" and you and your friends can laugh for seconds at a time!
Did you all know this? It's apparently really common. I'd been missing out on all kinds of fun for years!

Illusional----I finally landed on Japanese soil this week. Okay, it was just on transit but nevertheless, it still counts. Everything was horribly expensive, and the Japanese are excessively polite. They nod in agreement with everything you say, despite not understanding what was just being said. Taking a cross-section, the girls in general are very cute and fashionable. You should make the trip there!!
