I suppose it would depend on the length of time between events. Twice over the course of a 50 year marriage would not constitute a chronic problem to me. Twice over a month would.

I've gone fishing a handful of times, but I don't label myself as a fisherman. I've gone bowling a lot, but I'm hardly what you'd call a bowler. I've done some drugs before, but I wouldn't label myself a druggie.
And no one I know would label me any of those.
See, if I forgave someone for cheating once and then they cheated again 20 years later, I'd feel like a fool and would feel like I wasted 20 years of my life with this person.
And regardless, I just don't think my personality allows for me to forgive a cheater. I am completely in love with my gf and I want to marry her... spending the rest of my life with her would be amazing... but if she cheated on me, I'd have to end it, simply because I would never be able to forget and I'd have a hard time letting it go. I'd have a hard time trusting her ever again and I don't want to have to constantly think "I wonder if she's cheating again."
well you figure, if you get away with something once, how likely are you going to do it again? shit, i would.
however, if i faced the negative penalties of cheating, like a divorce and child support, i'd think twice.

Some people require external consequences and rewards in order to behave themselves. (Isn't that the basis for the whole Heaven vs. Hell myth?) Other people have consciences.
Human mind does not forget being mistreated, misled or cheated upon. HE/she might try to do so but he always fails because surroundings (people, actions, situations, environment, things even) will all act as a reminder or a starter to bring it all over again and to float on the surface.
i call bullshit on the twice thing.
What twice thing?Quote:

cheating twice ?
yeah cheating twice.
what kind of fool would believe such a thing?
Do you consider sleeping with your ex wife a cheating thing? If so, they are equal now. What a matching couple....but unfortunately, I do not see it lasting for long.
oops! wrong thread.
I would label my ex husband a cheater, not just because he cheated on me a few times, but he also cheated on ex-gfs. I cheated on him and only him, once, while he was openly cheating on me. I don't think this makes me a 'cheater'. I would never cheat on my current bf, never ever. I would, however, cheat on my ex again...because he's a dick and deserves it.
I think my how this is the situation with the OP and his wife.....he cheated on her, so she didn't feel like doing it to him was unjustifiable. This has the potential to keep going in a nasty cycle, because they've both broken each other's trust. Maybe not, but they've certainly opened up a huge can of worms.....it will take a lot to keep this marriage together long term. A lot. The absence of trust in a relationship is a killer.
In my opinion, if a relationship is bad and you feel the need to cheat.... break it off.
Your mother never loved you.Quote:
