I don't know what I want out of life.

No, for sure not. Even if I got upset with my parents or my siblings, I would never say I don't love them. A lot , really a lot must happen for me to say something like that, and I think it will never be so.

Perhaps you mean you shouldn't be inflexible in making your plans. I agree with that. But that is quite different from not making any plans, which give you direction and help you achieve your goals.

How many of you know exactly how long and much money you need to retire at a given age? Are you making plans for that? I hope so.

You are correct in my meaning...I don't think you can set anything in stone...certainly I have goals in life...all I am saying is you cannot forsee the future and there is no sense in getting hung up on your goals or you'll be so worried about them you will miss life.

For example I love the country, I was raised in the country. I always thought Montana was beautiful and that I would like to own a ranch there...I myself raise buffalo in Indiana so I already have a small ranch but Montana looks beautiful. With that said I know that my career could take me to different places and maybe even city life...I hate the city (to many people, not enough trees)...but I always thought that if I were to move to a city I would prefer Seattle or San Fransisco...They are both progressive and forward thinking cities which I am attracted to.

There is a solid chance I will never live in any of those places, so as I said I don't think its wrong to make plans or goals...just be happy with what does happen...I mean I can't predict other outside factors, maybe my parents become ill or I marry a woman who just absolutely has to live in a certain place because she loves it so much or maybe I have a child with a disability and have to live close to a certain hospital...As I said you can't predict life so set yourself up for what you want but be happy with what you get because we only run the track once and if you get hung up on the little stuff you don't see the big stuff.

This^ is an amazing attitude to have. There are a lot of men all over the world who would die to hear their wives tell them this.

As for your mum, PP, I don't think Vash means cases where parents *have* to work. She's talking about choosing career over childcare, especially when they are little.

I see this at the university, and it really is sad. All those little baby prams in the daycare with their parents working on campus. I wasn't a complete stay-at home mom, but I'm glad we never did this kind of thing. It really makes you wonder why parents even bother having them.

I've wondered the same, and why they don't sponsor poverty stricken children in war torn regions instead. Children are a blessing and they're little people with huge needs, not pram ornaments.

My 2 cents in an already very busy thread.

To the OP: I think it's best to stick with short term plans...don't look too much ahead as the whole machinery is always disturbed by unexpected little glitches that noone could ever have foreseen.

Plus while your're busy making plans...your life happens without you :)

Think about what you want to accomplish within the next year and try to achieve it.

and me! haha. although my mother and i have been getting closer lately. she has really changed. being a grandmother has brought her a new light.

i'm glad that i have the job i do. i'm mostly at home. i may have to utilize day care every now and again but i'll be able to stay home with the baby. i'm pretty lucky for this. not very many people are as fortunate as me.

frizzzz, just start thinking about it. think about what you want out of life without limitations. then work to get there. you don't have to know if you want kids right now. but think about it!

you're a smart guy and a good guy and i'm sure you'll make good decisions.

I did a lot of work from home also. A friend of mine w/a finance degree, she stayed home with 2 kids and worked as a mortgage broker. Made more than her husband doing it!

Solutions are out there that will give you that flexibility. So get that degree, PP!

yeah theres nothing to talk about untill i actually get a degree and pregnant hehe. and still wont be for next few years.hope we all be still around here to discuss about it.
