Well put that way, I shouldn't worry LoL...I worry it will end in a tie and then I have to pick a movie out of two or three and the ones I don't pick will feel slighted..maybe? I would just pick the movie I'd prefer the most if it came down to that not whose movies they were.
Thank you, I laughed.
-
dollhouse, you can make your thread now if you want for your movie themes.
I think WAB's movie has winded down and I don't think pcmaster is going to review it and bloodtippedrose hasn't been back on the website to even know it's up for review. I did PM her though when it was up.
I'd like a horror theme since we haven't done that yet so that would be my suggestion. :)
-
Ooo! I would certainly second that suggestion. I like the idea of a horror theme. As long as the group in general is cool with that, I would definitely be jazzed for that. I'll have to see if I can think of some good horror to suggest. A bit hard for me because I LOVE horror movies, so I tend to enjoy them even when they aren't good. So, I'd have to try to think of ones that would be more likely for everybody to enjoy.
-
I'd be up for some horror content in the movie club! Otherwise I don't have any specific preference to what we do -- I'll go with the majority.
-
Okay, all... I will throw that up this morning then and it will be just for asking what " theme " everyone would like to do and when we pick the most popular theme ...do I just use that same thread to ask for movie choices for that theme so I can then make up a voting poll for us?
Thanks. Hope everybody has a terrific weekend.
-
You can do that if you want, for sure. I would just suggest tagging (or mention, or whatever it is called on this site) the members of the group once you do so they actually get a notice they've been tagged. That way they know when to come back to suggest actual movies for whatever theme we choose.
If it is easier, you could just open a new thread for the actual movie suggestions if you want. I just think it is good not to have too many separate threads for the same round. The review thread should stand on its own, but for the others I see no reason not to just combine them all to cut down on clutter, so to speak.
But, again, it really doesn't matter all that much either way. Do whatever you think works best. :)
-
dollhouse.
Some posters/members no longer post here or are interested or only participated for pcmaster I think was ( Kiara and Paradise) so you don't need to wait on them. You have ten places on the poll vote for movies so you could ask the members who have not run a review yet, either Jffs24, breathe123 or Exeter19 if they'd like to suggest two movies to give them an extra shot at winning the poll and running a review and also fill your ten spots. You don't have to to though.
I suggested my movie in your theme thread if you wait to see about themes, please PM if it comes up something other than horror and I will suggest another movie for your poll.
-
Okay, I'll do that then... I think breathe123 suggested two movies already because she wasn't sure which theme in horror would be used...so I will ask if Jffs24 and Exeter19 would like to suggest extra movies... if they do not want to then it is okay with me. Thank you.
-
Aw, thanks, topazlight ((hugs)) ~ I suggested two in-case so dollhouse can just use both I already suggested then one is an old b&w and the other is a recent horror film.
-
thanks, topazlight. i am okay with only suggesting one movie for myself.
-
topazlight... what do you do when a regular movie club poster isn't replying with their movie and all others have? do I wait or just put up the poll with every else's so the majority aren't waiting on one person? Halps, is bothering me that it is being held up not on my own account.
-
I'm not topaz, but I can offer my thoughts....
I would say you give them a little bit of a heads up (which I think, at this point, you already have), but then we just proceed without their suggestion. I think, rather than hold the whole group up waiting for one person, it would be best for us just to move forward. I do agree with you that it is nice to let everybody get their chance to make a suggest, to vote, to review, etc, but we don't want to hold everybody else up if somebody is maybe unable to sign in for a while. Who knows what they may have going on and when they may be able to pop back in?
Just my thoughts, though. I'm cool with whatever you think is best.
-
Thank you, Jester..I sent him a @ along with topaz, Jffs and meg and others who were gone so they'd know to suggest their movie only he didn't answer... so then over a week ago I sent him a PM about it with others movie choices so far...so I did notify him twice about giving his movie for the poll. Meg suggested I PM someone off his FB here to notify him further. That poll would have been up last week if I wasn't waiting for pcmaster to let him give a movie to go on the poll. he gave his theme so to me that says he was willing to give a movie too, right? Has this happened before, and what was done? I feel bad making others who gave movies last week wait. End of my grumbling, haha.
- - - Updated - - -
Okay... just sent hazey daisy a PM about it.
-
I agree with TheEvilJester ~ make the poll up when it is next convenient for you to do so.
-
I mean, honestly, at this point you've tagged him with the @ symbol and you've even PM'ed him. If he was going to sign in to offer his suggestion, he would have. I don't think there is any reason to PM somebody who knows them to ask them to ask him. It sounds like you already did, but honestly, I don't think you should have bothered. Maybe pcmaster has just been busy and not able to log on here. I'd love for everybody to be able to participate, but I don't think we should wait around, holding things up for long for just one or two people.
I mean, if I was suddenly unable to come here for a while, I'd feel the same way. I wouldn't want you guys held up waiting for me to chime in just so you could continue.
-
i'll third that thought of you making the poll up when you want. he can always give a review and vote in the poll, not likely but he can still participate in any way since he belongs to the group.
-
I sent hazey a PM asking if she wanted to join the movie group for round I did up and she probably opened my PM but didn't reply but for some reason went to look at my profile, lol? Dollhouse, pcmaster hasn't given any reviews for our last three movies so don't need to wait on him because I am sure he is online and probably looked in here just hasn't logged in is all.
You can wait for topaz to log back in but that might not be until end of this week, idk. When do you want your poll going up?
-
No, she didn't reply but might have alerted pcmaster, idk for sure but he came on over the weekend and said he liked breathe's choice of The Birds and would go with that movie for himself too.
Thanks everyone for listening to me and helping me out...good group of guys and gals here.

Gawd damn I am having trouble making the initial thread with the poll attached :( made a double thread and neither had the poll I added on it. Trying for a third time.
-
If you do not want to pick between two movies in a tie or run another vote or poll you can make two threads for both movies and who ever wants to put reviews in on one of the two or both of the two may. I am happy to go with whatever the runner of the review decides in every case.
-
I said this in the other thread as well, but I personally think we should just pick one winner rather than focus on two. I mean, I don't mind whatever we decide to do, so I am fine with it if the group decides we should just focus on two movies if two win. However, just in my personal opinion, it works a lot better when we just focus on one movie each round so we are all watching and discussing the same thing at the same time.
-
I see how that would get overly complicated but I prefer reducing stress on anyone who doesn't or might not like to disappoint others in certain situations because I know the dread involved when it ends up tied. I wouldn't mind suggestions for how else we could do the vote or picking of the movies to review because tbh I dislike the continuous ties as well but don't like to be a breaker unless asked by whomever is running it various rounds. I like to stand back mostly. Happy for any and all input.
dollhouse you might need to PM Jffs24 so he knows to re vote again on this round since he hasn't been online lately appears.
-
LOL! Why does everybody else stress so much over the voting in this thing? When it comes right down to it, we are doing this for fun. I don't think anybody would be offended if their movie didn't win, nor do I think anybody would be offended if their movie was tied as the winner with another or other movies.... and we ultimately didn't pick theirs. This is all just for fun.
I definitely think it stinks how we ALWAYS seem to end in a tie no matter what we try to do, but I don't really think it is a big deal to break the tie in whatever way we decide. Me personally, if/when I am running things, I like to give everybody a chance to share their thoughts rather than to just make a decision myself.... but it really doesn't matter how we break the tie. There shouldn't need to be any stress involved. :)
-
I didn't but I did stress over people not putting in a movie if if they did not being online to cast a vote for their movie. It's that make it all fair for each thing, I suspect. My movie has never won, and I don't care.
breathe123 and pcmaster are you dual running next or just breathe123? can think of theme now before other movie thread ends its discussion if you'd like. No idea what has been discussed since not being online here.
-
I let Breathe to do it, cause I did it once already and one person have to do it.
-
Oh. okay, pcmaster.
breathe123. Whenever you are able to access this website you can ask for suggestions for the next movie if you'd like to do that.
-
I haven't seen her post since the 26th or day before, topazlight. I think some who post regularly might have given up and assumed the website was gone and are not attempting to log in to check. I'm happy to wait like megvoh said in The Birds thread until the new year 2017.
-
Hehe forgot to post here day I was able to get back on after the forum screw up ~ I think I'll pick drama for a theme for the 2017 review round.
-
That sounds good, breathe123. We'll have lots of choices for us to choose from off that choice. I will start thinking on what mine would be and post in here for you to keep in mind for when it comes back around.
-
i'll also check out what movies in the drama section i'd like to suggest the most by the new year too. i would suggest the accountant with ben affleck ( was drama and action) but a really good movie most here would enjoy but it is a new release.
-
Okay so if drama is our genre choice I would probably pick either ...Room (new movie) or Shawshank Redemption ( older movie) as one of my choices.
-
Those all all nice movie choices, Exeter19 and dollhouse.
Exeter19 If you have a good online link for the new movie you want to suggest and others can easily watch then go ahead and suggest that movie.
-
^^^^ I'd enjoy those movies too. If someone gives me the link to watch a newer movie online I'll watch it :-]
Ones I am debating to use are :
Ex Machina ( drama & sci fi ) newer movie
Shutter Island
8 Mile & another I forget right now will quote & add it in another time so have to narrow it down by the new year.
-
topazlight
thanks, i'll make sure there is a decent link even if a cam link to that movie before i pick it for the movie group suggestion then.
dollhouse
shawshank is a movie i'd rewatch if you pick it. same for 8 mile, breathe123.
-
Personally, I have pretty much zero interest in 8 Mile. Shawshank, though, I'd happily watch again. I'd have to think about drama to come up with my choice. Off the top of my head nothing specific comes to mind, but I am sure I can come up with something to add to the list.
-
Okay, I'll go with .. The Shawshank Redemption ( it's a long one but a good one ) and should be easy for everyone to find and watch. Gets a 9.5/10 on IMDb.
-
When you said it was long, I was thinking you meant like 3 hours or something. LOL! It is apparently about 2 hours 22 minutes. That is long, but not ungodly long.
-
Would all of you want to watch Shutter Island? TheEvilJester? I see 8 mile is divided. I am still thinking on other choices too, not decided yet.
Another one is The Help. I loved that movie.
So think Exeter & dollhouse have decided on theirs?
The Accountant
The Shawshank Redemption
-
Jeez! Some really long choices here. LOL! The Help is 2 hours and 26 minutes. Shutter Island is 2 hours and 18 minutes. Again, that is pretty long in both cases, but still no so long that I'd be reluctant to give them a try. So, yeah, I'd be down for either of those.
I just personally REALLY do not like Eminem, and I HATE that song featured in that movie, so I would have to respectfully pass on participating this round if 8 Mile won. Don't get me wrong, I'm not asking people not to vote on it. If everybody else wants to do that movie, I am sure as heck not going be the party pooper. I'm just saying, that's one I personally would have to pass on watching.
-
Okay, so theme is drama? Lemme think right now which one I'd like so I am ready to go start of year. *thinks hard*
If we were all picking new ones I'd say :
The Revenant
and a weird one suggested previously :
Her
-
Both those are good, megvoh. The Revenant is a two & half hour movie too.
TheEvilJester ~ lots of these dramas are pretty long ~ anything over 3 hours would be hard for me to watch, I'd have to break it up into a two day watch.
I'm happy to go with The Help.
