Hmm.. I have been told that the number of scientists that don't believe in global warming (and the effect of CO2 on the environment) is similar to the number of scientists that don't believe in evolution....
I dont believe in global warming.
Although i dont have over an hour spare atm i will definatly watch that soon!

Just watch the documentary.
believe it or not, but that shit is happening. sorry.
I hope I'm long dead before the shit hits the fan. America will never take serious measures to protect the environment. It's a lost cause.

You don't even want to watch the show?

Watch the documentary.
I don't buy the whole global warming myth. From what I understand, many of the so-called "greenhouse gases" are released in far greater abundance by nature than what humans could ever produce. Also, history shows us that the earth has experienced periods of cooling followed by gradual warming over time. It's only natural the global temperature is rising when you consider we last had an Ice Age only a few thousand years ago.
Interesting that this scientific matter is becoming a partisan issue, much like "intelligent design". Perhaps this divide comes from the anti-science attitude of the Bush administration and is perpetuated by like-minded people.

Hmm.
Quite frankly, I don't care enough.
vashti -- you've made two posts in this thread, both of which are ad-hominem attacks. They amount to saying "you're stupid if you don't believe in global warming being caused by CO2 caused by mankind".Quote:

You never discuss the science.
I am on the side that says this Global Warming is true. It being cause by man made stuff or nature or a combination of the two, who knows. But there is enough evidence there for me to believe this.
The issue isn't whether global-warming is taking place (it is, and that's a good thing). It's saying it's due to any significant degree to mankind's increasing the amount of CO2.Quote:

Watch the documentary and you'll understand.
hold on, humans *are* part of nature and planet earth, therefore everything we do is in a way 'natural'. I do believe that global warming is man-made, or at least very man-accelerated. I also think people misinterpret the term 'global warming'. If too much fresh water (ice) melts, the dense salinity of the water of the north Atlantic current would become too fresh and therefore stop the conveyer. That'd make it *colder* in northern europe, not warmer. the planet is made up of too many intricate climate systems to really say it'll just get warmer everywhere.
yea, boo frickety hoo everybody. can ya shadap for those of us who want to enjoy our time on earth without any crazy insane-driving thoughts of global warming or other disasters?
That's because I am not a scientist, but I know enough to know that the overwhelming majority of scientists disagree with your video.Quote:

The overwhelming majority of scientists don't have any specialized knowledge of the earth sciences and get their information about GW from the newspapers like everyone else. If you'd watch the documentary, you'd see an interview with a scientist who worked on the periphery of the field who states that even HE got his news about GW that way and he didn't realize how wrong it was until he began to do actual research in the area.
If, like me, you don't feel like watching an hour long video you can read about it here.
My thoughts on the subject: were I a scientist my opinions and my findings would coincide with the interests of my benefactors. I don't know that I fully trust either side of this argument.
However, the fact that one of the scientists claims to have been duped makes me question the accuracy of the video.
Scientists present evidence and other scientists look at it and run their own experiments. No one has invalidated the science presented in the documentary, but the science presented in "An Inconvenient Truth" has been invalidated by further experiments.Quote:

The scientist who is objecting to being mislead wasn't quoted out of context -- he just objects to the authority of his name being ascribed to an anti-AGW movie. If he's strongly politically motivated then (as has been shown time and again) then he's quite willing to support an AGW-agenda even tho he doesn't think it's a fact.
Global Warming is real. End of discussion. There is no debating that and if you deny it and aren't taking measures to cure it then your actions are morally treasonable.
Walk outside and find a stick and drop the stick. That's called gravity and that is exactly how real global warming is.
TDurden, no one is denying the earth is getting hotter. That much is obvious. So I'm not sure who you were addressing in your post. The main issue seems to be whether global warming is significantly caused by humans. There is no conclusive evidence that we are responsible.
By the way, comments like this don't exactly strengthen your position.

I don't see why I should have to do anything about it.
