Well, what were you?
I was a sonic kid myself. When I played Sonic 2 on the Sega Genesis and got all the chaos emeralds and turned into super sonic, I thought I was the coolest kid in the world. Remember those days?
Or were you a mario kid, playing some old school Super Mario Bros. 3? That was equally as awesome.
I had both, but I always liked Mario better.
Mario felt more quality. Sonic was always, like, he was just about style. It felt so shallow. Until Sonic 2 and 3 when Tails and Knuckles came into the picture.
Anyway, Sonic games blow now. They should just let him die.
I went both ways.

i got the NES when i was 4 years old. i had some kind of disorder that threw of my hand-eye coordination and my depth perception. it was so bad that i had a hard time walking up and down stairs and walking at normal speeds. my mother bought it hoping it would help.
we didn't have any money in those days. one of my mom's good friends gave it to her. we got mario bros. it was a miracle because it somehow helped me gain hand-eye coords and walk normally and stuff.
i forgot that i ever had that until you mentioned this thread. i never got to experience sonic until the wonderful days of roms.
I used to have a super nintendo a long long time ago. I played super mario bros...but got bored cause all you do was jump on turtles' heads. :P
mario was the sh*t before... everyone had a nintendo system of some sort, it was like cell phones these days.
well i actually had both and they both had the stupid same concept, jumping on your opponent to kill them. it seems boring now, but when you're a kid, it's the ultimate entertainment.

Yeah...but these days, most good games are mature rated. Hooray for mature! I just hate mario...its so gay.
actually mario does come out with a great line of games, you just have to keep your mind open to this childishness. why do you think the wii is so popular?? it's is also because on the interaction, but i can't wait for drunken mario kart on the wii.. damn that will be very interesting.

I enjoyed both, but was always a Mario fanboi at heart. I was a big Final Fantasy fan too, and generally a huge video game nerd growing up. But I'm not anymore. I don't play video games like 40 hours a week. Really, I don't. I swear. :sad2:

I recently bought the Sega Genesis Collection for my PSP. Has lots of classics on it, like Sonic, Vector Man, Shinobi, Golden Axe, etc.
Remember Sonic and Knuckles, where you could open the top part of the cartridge and pop in Sonic 2 or Sonic 3? LOL, I loved that

Mario had some sweet music too. The theme song.. underworld music... the music that played while you were fighting the hammer bros...
so basically it comes down to another duel... mario kart or sonic riders... it's pretty simple.

I agree that Mario is timeless. He IS the posterboy for Nintendo.
I got my NES in 1988 and all the Mario games entertained me. Although, I'm more of a Zelda guy.
Sonic had his time to shine during the Genesis age. But I think Sega makes better sports games nowdays.
i was born in '89 so i kinda grew up with sonic. i also only had a genesis. man i was sonic kid, but my fav character was knuckles...that guy was a badass.
nes and snes were both good, but with the current technology, i can never go back to those games.

Doesnt brings up a good point. You could walk into any public place and hum/whistle/vocable any old school mario song and people will recognize it. Who the hell remembers sonic music?

my favorite sonic song is the first level of the first game. man that is a great tune.

both ways here. but mario had more depth but sonic had super sonic speed!!!!
with all that running and jumping, sonic couldn't kick a turtle shell.. enough said.
